U.S. Supplies Lebanese Army with Aid

So it appears that the U.S. is once again trying to prop up an semi-unpopular government in the Middle East (surprise!), though the funny thing is that apparently the total amount of support for the Lebanese army amounts to an Israeli Jet and a ....half.

My worry is how much of this aid is going to end up in the hands of the terrorists Hezbollah.

I guess the Israelis are most worried about TOWs and AA systems.

From that article it seems everything they were given in the past went to crap, wasn't looked after, wasn't reverse-engineered and replicated - in other words, they say "gimme gimme gimme the best but unless you keep supplying us we'll just let it rust/disintegrate".

What article have you been reading exactly? With what was the Lebanese army supposed to maintain American equipment during a 15year civil war? Sweat and goodwill? :hmmm:

Thoughts?

This seems weird...the Lebanese government and Army have sanctioned Hezbollah to 'defend' the country against Israel...and drive Israel off Lebanese land...and the States wants to give them effective weapons to do that with?

All I want is for Lebanon to be able to defend itself against any future Israeli raids and interference. [or Syrian]
