Default Spearmen, spearmen and peasant archers

    Seriously...

that's all I'm seeying while playing the 1080AD early campaign England with SS6.1 and all the submods (patched).

All I can recruit for the first 30 turns (atleast) are spearmen, peasant archers, militia archers, and once every 10 turns I can recruit a mailed knights.

Spearmen are okay, but they are not great. Luckily they have big shields which give nice benefits against archers...and omg I can recruit entire stacks of these in a matter of turns...over and over.
Peasant archers, come on, they are lowest tiers, sure they are a nice deterrent but they suck compared to militia archers and peasant archers can only be recruited in castle type settlements, another downer.
Militia archers are much better then peasant archers and are amazingly only recruitable from cities, making my castles even crappier since I can recruit levy spearment from the cities aswell for protection.
Mailed knights are only available if I keep a war council member (RR) in a castle type settlement for 10 frickin turns (aka 15 years) else it resets aswell.

Only if I upgrade the castle to a frickin fortress will I be able to recruit a armoured sargeant and a light men at arms once every 6 turns!

It's 1180AD now, I conquered scottland and wales with peasants. I'd really like to see longbows or something. And whats up with some factions starting with units like crossbowmen while they are not even able to recruit themselves those types of units/

I know you are all saying I prolly shouldn't have installed Real Recruitment...But I thought I'd have atleast more then these 3 units for the first 30 turns, where are my swordmen or anything other then mailed knights or spears ... so here goes ... how do I uninstall it properly?

Uninstall everthing including m2tw/kingdoms (unless you made a backup of vanilla - which you should have before attempting to play a mod), reinstall SS6.0+6.1patch, and when you install the patch remove RR in the options.

With RR as England you can recruit Peasants, Levy Spearmen, Armored Sergeants and Light Men At Arms from a Drill Square and Mailed Knights from the Castle, plus Peasant Archers and Mounted Sergeants. You can recruit Feudal Knights and Dismounted Feudal Knights once you get to a Fortress, or from a Castle after year about 1220. Longbowmen did not appear until late 12th Century. Feudal armies of that era were mostly low quality militia and levy units, with a small core of professionals and nobles, plus mercenaries, which you should be using a lot.

War Council members have nothing to do with RR. Those are from the BGR III mod.

If you want to remove them just reinstall 6.1 patch without ticking RR and/or BGR III.

I think the RR recruitment mod shouldnt be in the installer for SS, people instal it thinking its quite necesary but its not, and often ruins the game. It makes recruitment hard beyond real, and more over it doesnt change ai even a little. It puts a handicap on player and that just ruins gameplay.

Please distinguish between RR and BGR III. RR affects the player and AI equally.

For me the most annoying thing in the RR is not that you have to fight with low tier militias for a long time. It's historically accurate and I can live with that. The problem is that recruitment is so damn hard. Even recruiting militia spearmen is taking some time, higher level units regenerate at a ridiculous rate. Recruit one light swordsmen unit - wait for 5 turns for another; 1 dismounted feudal knight - another one will appear in 6 turns. And with all said above, the AI somehow manages to produce stack after stack after stack of troops with increasing quality.

In my latest campaign, I was hoping that better quality troops that I could recruit as HRE, compared to Moors will give me an advantage, but with good troops regenerating so slowly it's not going to happen, and the Moors are recruiting better troops in more numbers than me. Saw the whole stack, consisting of Tuareg Camel Spearmen, Arab Cavalry and dism. Arab Cavalry, and with them having around 12 full stacks spread around I don't know how many of those still await me, while I'm still stuck with good ole' spear militias.

I played for a long time without RR but just started playing with it and I must say that it has made SS new for me again. Vanilla SS had gotten old and unchallenging. RR has presented a new challenge that makes the game more exciting. It is probably not for new players of SS but great for the more experienced ones.

Maybe if the skins werent so boring it would be more fun. I agree it shouldnt be in the installer, SS newbs who dont know about all the contents of the mod might be turned off by the restrictions in rr and not even take the time to ask whats up in these forums.

RR is actually better in the late campaign because there are more units available and they change much more frequently. The units available in the game make for a slow early era.
