Does anyone know what are the normal hit points for a general before any special traits that add or subtract them?
Also where in the game is that file?
I'm not talking about the general bodyguard in EDU, that's for those solders.

Don't know what exactly what a hit point is. I thought it was how many times your general could get hit but I've seen my general get hit like twenty times without dying so...
The hitpoints are the amount of "kills" that a general in this case can take, so your general, if he has 12 hitpoints can take 12 normally deadly hits without dying, however once these hitpoints are used up he dies as any normal soldier.
There has to be somewhere in the game a set number of hit points for a general. They can get traits that increase this number, but for example if a general is deathly sick with -5 hit points he would not die from 1 hit, because he does not have 1 to start then -5 so he has negative. I think they start with like 10 or 20 and I don't think if a general had all of the hit point penalty traits it would be more than -10, so a even a really sick and wounded general must have at least 5 hit points still.

Remember General's Bodyguards have 2 hit points but general himself (as the individual with good armor) seems to have a lot more (not sure but sure feels like it).
Also the hitpoint can never go into negative.
Example: Let's assume general has 2hp base. He gets "Mark of war" trait which makes 2+2=4
Then he gets deathly sick trait and while it shuld be 4-5= -1, I think it stays at 1.
None of these ancillaries affect the guard units.
I don't think there is, but a good combination of hitpoint traits is HaleAndHearty 7 (+3), BattleScarred 4 (+8!!), Berserker (+4) but this one has a lot of negatives to like -4 chivalry and -3 defense but troop morale and attack go +3, Brave 5 (+3) but Brave 4 has doubled troopmorale and two hitpoints.
if your looking for traits you could always look in export_descr_charactertraits in Data and if your really desperate you could change the stats of this and make them 200![]()
More GG, More skill
hitpoints are what makes hashishims so fun to use other than the fact they are roman arcanis from 100bc in disguise

One thing I noticed is that the general "individual" will often move back to the middle and avoid dmg/fighting most of the time once the melee starts. Good way to kill them easily is to move all your javalin cavalry to the "left" side of the general while they march when their general is well-exposed and concentrate fire. Whenever I play Portugal/Poland/Russia they start with their general dead before they even reach my lines. Curse the genoese and their xbows, and Javcav will kill muslim generals just as fast as other ones![]()
Or just pray that artillery fire lands on him (mangonal facial ftw). Even muslim generals can't live through that.
There is nothing in the units file that specially boosts the muslim generals. Their armored horses boost their overall armor value and their maces make them very deadly in melee, combined with likely negative terrain penalties for their opponents.
I belive in +6 vs cavalry.
Versus muslim generals, shoot with all weapons to him.![]()
How often we overlook the terrain penalties just because it's not shown on the unit card! A shame.
The best way is to just use the common sense..heavy knight in shining armor will most probably get more heat penalty than some light javelinthrover or such..same applies to the terrain penalty(at least in new RC)!
And middle-eastern units don't suffer the heat penalty as much, as they're accustomed to fighting in warm climate.
in SS and RR I think different type of armor (even if it's the same value) has different heat penalties as well.
I believe in mass crossbow militia to the face! See you later Sultan! Terrain penalty that you plucky bastard!
I've tried the crossbow militia thing, They lost about three units and flattened my X-bow like they were crucifix wearing marshmallows. The spearmen I had accompanying them routed shortly afterwards.
