Default Moving shield from back to arm

Is it possible to move a shield from the back to the arm just editing text?

Norse axemen and varagian guard both have a shield on their back. I want to move it to their arm.

    Is it possible?

Thanks for the response. Thats a shame, after watching many units do it I thought I could get a few more working. I guess there must be something different in the models for dismounted dvor for example.

    It is possible.

To do it you need to think a little bit about how the game configures each unit, and how it switches between the first weapon and the second. When the second shows up, the first one is hidden right? In other words, everything associated with it disappears, while everything associated with the 2nd weapon shows up?

Well then: create a shield on the back and group it with the 1st weapon, and create another shield -- on the arm -- and group it with the 2nd weapon. Then when the unit is using the 1st weapon, e.g. a bow, the shield is hanging on the back, but when he switches to the sword the shield magically appears in his left hand.

In this case though, assuming the shield on the back is tied to a secondary weapon, I'd need to set the primary weapon as nothing... would that work? No primary weapon and 2h axe as secondary, would the shield appear?

Just tie the shield to the primary weapon (i.e. axe)

It's in the mesh file. You can't do this in text files, sorry.

I've done it by editing the meshes.

So the shield moves now? Good job.

Unfortunately the shields on the backs of these units are just too big, I had to steal a buckler from byzantine guard archers. The reason they're too big is that for many parts of their animations the axe sticks through their shield. Also having no secondary weapon there is no need to have the shield move from the back to the arm so I missed out on learning about that.
