TOPIC: Our Past, Our Future & Vision for America
    June 14, 2006
Remarks of Senator Barack Obama: Take Back America
    Complete Text

It's a time where you can go to any town hall or street corner or coffee shop and hear people express the same anxiety about the future anxiety: it's a new thing; hear them convey the same uncertainty about the direction we're headed as a country a country is a monolithic concept that heads in one direction at the time depending which of two political parties with minimum differences apart from rhetoric, is at the helm. Whether it's the war or Katrina or their health care or their jobs, you hear people say that we've finally arrived at a moment where something must change it's called elections and happens every 5 years.

These are Americans who still believe in an America where anything's possible and there are the others, the unbelievers, but if Palin calls them pro-American then she is divisive, gosh - they just don't think their leaders do while the unbelievers think as their leaders do and I'm going to rectify their thoughts, immediately. These are Americans who still dream big dreams and when I say big I mean bigger then small dreams like having a house, a car, college funding, health care, a modicum of safety. I talk BIG DREAMS here, people; not going to tell which they are but it's enough to know they are BIG -they just sense their leaders have forgotten how; well, I am no scientist to know how this metaphor is ridiculous but I will do it for the hell of it.

I remember when I first ran for the state Senate - my very first race. A seat had opened up, and some friends asked me if I'd be interested in running I am a modest person, I would never think about this uninvited by "others". Well, I thought about it, and then I did what every wise man does when faced with a difficult decision: I prayed, and I asked my wife see, people, family and moral values that appeal to everyone. Except if you are atheist or not married but we got those in the bag anyway.

And after consulting with these higher powers my wife is a higher power, lol, I'm joking, lol, presidents wives are not higher powers really, oh...wait, Hillar..oh snap!, I threw my hat in the ring and I did what every person on a campaign does - I talked to anyone who'd listen but I will not listen to anyone who is talking because this is not what candidacies are about.

Here you can find all Obama's speeches. Come on have a go, it's ridiculously easy.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

The one thing Obama could have done that would have made me not vote for him was picking Hillary as vp.

Here is an Obama quote that doesn't need to be translated because it was him speaking absolute truth. He was speaking in 2004 and had just been asked if he would run for president in 2008. Obama:

"I am a believer in knowing what you're doing when you apply for a job. I think that if I were to seriously consider running on a national ticket I would essentially have to start now before having served a day in the Senate. Some people might be comfortable doing that but I'm not one of those people."

    Damn these are truly idiotic.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

Why? Did you see any impact of my political opinions affecting, say, moderation? I also don't like green beans and sorry if I offended the people of Oregon, a state which is a major producer.

When I post 3 threads against the republicans, I'm OK. When I dare to criticise the prophet than I am "not neutral" or "obsessed".

Garb simply points out that you should not be deluded in thinking Obama will perform miracles. Which is exactly the case.

Positive psychology works only with people who are impervious to reality, in my experience. I may be wrong, who knows.

    Pascal's Wager, Ummon.

If you have faith in Obama's divinity, and if you were correct, then you would reap the benefits in the form of a miraculous recovery from the Bush adminstration.

If you were wrong, oh well. No big deal. Maybe you'll be slightly disappointed - but nothing a bottle of scotch won't fix.

If you DON'T have faith in Obama's divinity, and if you were wrong, then you would be alienated as a republican scum, forever doomed to languor in obscurity as no one in this entire nation would EVER buy you a drink at a bar.

If you DON'T have faith in Obama's divinity, and if you were right, then the entire country goes spiralling to hell and oh well - where's that bottle of scotch.

So after weighing the consequences, wouldn't you agree it's infinitely better to believe than to reject? Come Ummon. Embrace the Obama. Embrace the love.
