    Default The strangest thing!

In my current Brutii campaign a very strange thing keeps happening. It's 250 B.C and I have 33 settlements, that's not strange but SPQR has 27 generals-5 with last name Maxentius and rest of them 22 have greek names but they are in SPQR service. And every 2 years their number is increasing.Who will beat them after they get armoured bodyguards.Does anyone know what is going on?

SPQR has Greek generals for some reason, I have seen it before.
Well, every general is popping up because the SPQR have only one settlement/province, they have nowhere else to go. Yes, by that time the SPQR has that many generals.
Nothing a few ellies cannot handle.

Nuke em...oops wrong game heh.. Yep had this, but RENTOKIL fixed it with their patented pest eradicator, called the "Catapult". Serious though I used Catapults vs the many Generals, even assassins, and on the Amazon Chariots up north of map,or you can have fun by for a change by dropping their army next(move character cheat) to a large enemy army or city, quick save, reload and have your army if allied, fight with them and let them do the fighting for you. I dump them near settlements I am besieging, breach a wall and stand back and let them fight through..instead. It is good fun to watch. If you want to clown around with another army and have a break for a change.

    Ye spears for sure
They will own these generals ^.^
    Cavalry also does wonders..

But for the name thing: They can't get much generals in Rome her self.
So they get generals from other conquered places like Greece.

spqr loves bribing the crap out of its enemies, esp greeks ones for some reason. Its not uncommon for me to play rtw and not have alteast one general of every surrounding faction on atleast one game under the service of sqpr. Basically you wouldnt have to worry about them when you want to conquer rome, just seige the city and take the city, when you have taken the city you will have 27 rebel general units, until, that is they are killed in battle, i mean in trying to save their spqr, lol.

I completed the campaign in 244 b.c and SPQR managed to have 32 generals before their disapperance.I have been playing RTW for 3 and half years and I have never seen something like that!

When I ended SPQR existence in one my campaigns, I bribed them and took for my family when they became rebels.

SPQR bribes many generals, mainly Greeks, as they are closer and more accessible to them. I have also seen Gauls and other barbarians in their ranks, but in a lesser extent than Greeks. Now, about beating them, you better expand a little more and kill them off before they get those bodyguard upgrades. Or bring your upgraded generals to the battle too, which will be no doubt more than the SPQR's. Not that they are that hard, just get some nice mercenary spearmen to deal with them...

After completing campaigns with Thrace and Seleucids same things happened.Every 2 years SPQR get 4 generals. So I found out what was the reason.Beside SPQR superfaction I added to Britons in descr_strat superfaction line so Britons were producing tons of armies on their soil and not attacking anyone.

As you are the Brutii, I guess you have conquered Greece. Hire armies of hoplite mercs, and use them and any surviving Triarii in a massive army. Go kill generals!

Top this in BI playing the WRE I once had a general who lived to the age of 124. He conquered a large chunk of the map had great stats/traits, then became Emperor at age 90 so he had 34 rule at the latter part of his great career not bad. His kids/grandkids were no good thougth...typical.

If you see some of the oldest generals threads, Hader had one that was over 200... He got it old enough the engine actually reset his age back to 1!

I once used an army of armoured elephants to defeat the SPQR generals. Just charge as one massive wave. Expect to lose a fair few elephants though, but each time a unit runs amok, 2 or 3 generals die!
