Zweihanders and the Like

So I've run a series of custom battles, on flat terrain. I put up the dismounted gothic knights and 2 handers against various opponents. I put them against chivalric knights, vikings, huskars, sword and buckler men, almost every late era unit . . . and they lost. They even had their charge bonus.

So, what am i doing wrong, or are the HRE's 2 handers an opportunistic unit?

IMO I don't like thoses units, to have the charge binous that they have works a bit like a cavalery charge you need to be at a certain distance.

What is good of them is when you are defending from a cliff the bonus charge is better and they can route ennmies easly

They are flankers according to Garp I mean CA. They are not very good in a prolonged mêlée against sword and shield infantry.

theyre better with m2tw 1.5, although 2h axes and the like are still gimped.

They need to beef them up. They're the only unique units the HRE really has and they suck lol. Anyone suggest a good strategy with them?

I think they're more allpurpose. They would work relativly well vs cavalry too wouldn't they?

nooooooooooooooooohohohohohohohohoho

there are two problems with two handers against cavalry. 1) no shield. and 2) no spear. cavalry will eat two handers for breakfast, lunch AND dinner

there uses are very very few (good for hiding in a forest and charging once the enemy has passed) but the rewards can be amazing if used properly

I think its just some people assume they are good verse Calvary because they h ave long swords :\ that are "inlikness" to Spears

They need more strenght and more stamina, some second-grade units can take them out of action.

ing patch to 1.5, 2h sword units eat all others with this one.

Um, heavy infantry two handers wipe the floor with my cav. If they're not bodyguard then they die unless its the elite of the elites in hv cav. Most other units dont stand a chance.
