Maybe you need a Camera Angel to get those shots?

Sorry I don't know if there's any way to unrestrict camera movement, but yeah it's spelt angle not angel.

well, you can in a custom battle...sort of
you can save a replay and put the camera in any position you want. there's a cinematic editor sticky on the medieval II general discussion page. check it out

ironically in medieval I you could easily change the camera to any position and any point. all you had to do was move the mouse around, then click the mouse button move the mouse in the direction you want to look. not sure why they left this out in later games. sometimes in medieval II i genuinely need to look at somewhere the camera can't get to, for example on a mountain with rocks.

I think the default battle view for MTW2 is the general veiw, meaning that you can only view things that are within the generals eyesight range.

You can switch to a differant battle veiw under the game or interface options when the game starts. You can also change other things here like the default troop size and your video settings. Hope this helps.

Just watch the tutorial on youtube and you'll be fine. You can download the .cfg files and .bat files, you just need to make a few minor adjustments.
