loading problem: goes to MedievalShell and hotkey menu then reloads.

Hey, I'm having a problem with loading any campaign, or quick battle or anything.

My computer has used the game perfectly before in the past, and recently I decided to re-install it. I made sure that all traces of the game were removed before hand, and my computer meets all specifications.

The problem I'm having is that when I tried starting a new campaign, the game would load, show the campaign map, and quickly both the hotkey menu and the "Welcome to MedievalShell" cheat window (or whatever it is) pops up. Then it says "game is successfully saved", and goes back to the loading page. It then repeats loading the game and reloading the game with the hotkey menu and everything, until I have to press alt+ctrl+esc to get out of the program, and close it using alt+ctrl+delete. When I end the program using end task, it says "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.", and also it says the program is not responding.

I've been searching online for this problem but haven't been able to find anything about it.

It is Medieval 2 total war gold edition.

If anyone can help me out with this, I would be greatly appreciated.

Something got crossed when installing. Reinstall it.

Silly?: some of keys are stuck? Like the '~' key which calls the shell.

I tried reinstalling and at first the screen turned black after loading then the game crashed. I then reloaded it and the hotkey menu reload thing happened again.

I'm pretty sure the ~ key isn't stuck or else this text box would be filled with ~'s. When I press ~ during the game while its having this problem, nothing happens.

Should I keep trying to reinstall or is there some kind of patch or something I should download?

No, it works fine for Rome total war.

May be this will help. And if you have any keyboard drivers and/or utilities installed try to remove it. Use only default MS drivers.

I don't know if any of this will help, I just see a lot of people talking about processors and keyboards and stuff so heres my information on that:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57

and my keyboard:
Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard

I don't know if anything could be wrong with any of that, but I guess I'd let you guys know if maybe it could be that or something.

I've had the same problem as the op, I've searched for and tried several different solutions and none of them seem to work.

Try remapping the console command key following this tutorial. The quick save button combination (Ctrl+S) works the same way. I guess it has to do with your keyboard, especially if it is wireless.
