Default WRE 432 AD/ forum dead?

First off- I'm playing a 432 WRE campaign (after many restarts) and I'm worried of falling into the trap of, what seems to be, occupying settlements that drain my economy. For example, in one campaign I was about to expand into Spain and, even with the armies being paid for I was making 25k a turn. But when I overtook half of Spain, with a few units of cohortis vigilum as garrisons in the towns and even most of the armies depleted, I was losing money! Are there specific ways to build up cities to avoid this, with a "get cash quick" building or strategy you could share? Cheers

Also, is it just me or is this forum dead? Doesn't seem that there's a lot going on in here, and I wondered if it's just the way things are or if there's some other forum being used? After playing EB and seeing the busy-as-hell forum I'm used to having a community of players who can all talk about the game and anything else, and it kinda takes a lot outta IBFD, which is great and definitely deserves more life. Just my two cents, stay safe (and post more )

Never a whole lot of talk on the forums but far from dead...I'm here. Enjoy your posts too

Its real difficult when you conquer new territories that were never or even once Roman. There is a penalty thus a drain on your finances. Its important to rebuild or to build from scratch the Roman infra structure in theses areas. Acquire the ancillaries from conquered capitals by rebuilding them to Roman glory. Capitals will provide great income but also give you the most headaches for they will rebel until you can rebuild it to Roman ways. I'm sure you can imagine the fine line between the two. The game requires managing your cities and conquered cities even more well.

I noticed RS has always a few dozen of people in there ..amazing!

That's very easy to understand. There a lot of people who are fans of the classical period (I'd say maybe 5 or 6 times more than us Late Empire lovers ), and besides RS is indeed a wonderful classic-period mod .

which is a shame really, cos i think the later period of roman history is more exciting, especially from a gaming point of view- it's set just before the Dark Ages and is consequently a predecessor to Medieval TW which makes it the in-betweener of the 'Saga' of TW games. To me this means that it's been polished from the original Rome TW, but doesn't have the ambitious and new scope that Medieval gave to the games (which, whilst good, wasn't quite as good as the RTW style of play IMO)

quod erat demonstrandum (says Aenima like the big headed fool he is ) the BI time period is arguably the best that a strategy game can be set in. cheers

Late Empire period is by far the best and most interesting, its all the loyalty issues and marauding hordes of visgoths, huns etc i love.

hey guys, new to the forum. and one question for you; is IB: Rio's FLAGELLVM DEI the best mod for RTW:BI or it is just submod for Invasio Barbarorum? Thanks for the answers.

    Hi Otto von Bismarck,

The Rio IBFD BRG Mod is technically a submod for it enjoys a free reign and uses much of the the original Mommas IB 7.3 units and Mylaes buildings. But after saying that, it is and has developed over two years to be a mod that is very much different in its philosophy and game play. A huge example is it uses a completely different map with an entirely different economic system. Currently with the a new release coming very soon with Beyond Roman Glory II, it will be a much more polished mod with I think some interesting additions. I do think its a good idea to try all three of the mods and see which one you like and if your undecided try the Momma first

BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

Btw I forgot to mention, good job on making the barbarians morale much better in this. I remember in the old days theyd turn tail and run as soon as they touched legionnaires but now the tables are practically reversed! Now it's finally a challenge, nicely done

Thanks Aenima, a lot has been done with unit stats. I think your going to really like the BRG II Mod, It polishes up further the first one and has a lot of new additions.
