    Default MTW: VI CTD

I have been experiancing a Crash to the Desktop when I try to start the campaign. I read this fix, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=43348 the anti-aliasing x2 did not work, and I wanted to make sure I had some other possibilities waiting for me if the drivers changing doesn't work.

    My specs are

    8800 GT Nividia
    2 GB RAM
Intel Duo Core Processor 2.66 GhZ
    over 300 GB HDD

I have MTW-VI; With the XL mod. (but I still get crashing without and a clean install). I would start up the game, go to the grand campaign, pick a faction, when I want to start the game's load bar would load to complete, but it would just crash to the desktop without even showing me the game's ingame map.

    Thanks for any help,

    DB

Your computer maybe too new for it. Use the search function at the top-right for it.

    1 GB RAM
    5600 (forgot letters) Nividia videocard

basically a primitive computer compared to today's standards. I still have XP (SP 3 now though).

What is the resolution on your graphic card? If you have the setting higher than 1247X746 it crashes as soon as you load a campian or at least on my computer. I figured out why on mine when I lowered it it would work fine but as soon as I raised it the crash would come so try that and see if it works.

There is still a thread around here on the 8800 not being compatible with MTW-VI or Shogun as no backward compatible drivers if I remember correctly. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...light=8800+MTW

Well that just ruins a person's day... There are some older PCs around the house, thanks.

MTW and VI and Shogun TW and all associated mods will not work on any 8000 series Nvidia cards as far as I know, and I have tried down to the 8400 model.

However, ATI/AMD Video Cards work on older programs including the older TW series games just mentioned!!!!

I had two ATI HD 2600XT's running in crossfire and they played the old TW games just great, as so far it seems my new HD 4670 does (have to test it some more, and get another 4670 for Crossfire, which will be about the equivalent of having a HD 4850 or 4870 card because the 4670 is an excellent beast and even plays the newer DX10 games OK, check the reviews on the inet because it is a great sub $100 card).

So, if you have a few $$ get an ATI 2600 or 2900XT, a 3650, or a 4670 and up card. The 2600XT and the 4670 do not need 6-pin power leads for them and run off the juice from the PCI-e slot (up to 75 watts per slot available) so they do run cool and that is also a great plus.

No more Nvidia for me for some time now, although I still have 2 comppooters with Nvidia cards but don't use them for older games etc. anymore. For all TW games and similar ones and the old TalonSoft Battleground ACW and Nappy Wars games and East and West Front etc. the newer ATI's seem to work well.

Hey christof139 what is the resolution you have? For me I have to lower the screen size in order for it not to crap out on me. Oh I do use ATI's.
