    Default reviving factions

Well apparently family size is tied into your empire size. I have played around 4 campaigns with this mod and i found that the AI is a pansy when it comes to rebels. rebel settlements account for the entire eastern european area, all except the northern coast of africa and most of the eastern areas of the mid east. Because these AI factions arnt expanding and are just fighting themselves the stupid rebels are getting bigger and better garrisons and the families are getting smaller. eventually the factions in my game all just die out because their family members die of old age.
i just want to know if i can somehow either spawn a group of troops for a the dead factions or can i somehow give rebel cities to the factions they should be owned by. the game is no fun when 5 factions die off because of stagnation.

Perhaps we can boost some fertility traits, and we should probably increase the number of starting family members.

Do you see a pattern of which faction have this problem?

I've noticed that the Byzantine Emperors tend to produce a multitude of daughters 'Princesses' but hardy ever produce multiple sons 'Princes'...

so far russia, poland and byzantium have all died off. the cumans have 2 regions left and are heading pretty quickly towards dieing off. it seems to be focused mainly in the russian region. also HRE is either poorly managing their cities or their unrest is really high because they lost all but 2 of their territories so they will be dead soon too. and of course right as i unite all of italy now i have to do it all over again and hope they survive this time.
add spain to the list too. they died off but they had all of spain except the southernmost point.

I am considering turning off rebelling characters. Has anyone had any experience with this? and if so, how has it affected the campaign?

    [EDIT]

What campaign difficulty are you playing on?

M or H shouldn't be a problem, I was wondering how VH would affect the campaign development.

I did find something regarding the Golden Horde in Late. Their religion is Islam, but they are still basically Pagan. This looks like it is causing alot of unrest. I will have to correct this for the patch.

Probably we need to fix some traits in the getting heir and leader section for this purpose.

If factions die out after the turns that the starting heir dies of for example old age, then we might have an issue in this area, i made some things complicate in the political house traits (SV , you know i want to fix there a feew things ... if you have changed in the meatime the traits file compared to the release, then please pm me the file, and i'll do some quick fixes).
It should be easy seen if factions have still family characters going on the map when they die out or just not ... that would be an indicator for the problem (perhaps it is though only a fertility problem).
Another thing in this relation is of course that if the FM's become completely rebel (illoyal), then the region is lost after a while. So eventually this is the culprit, that factions lose regions quite easy in certain regions of the map, where the unrest is even higher. It would be easy to counter this for certain faction FM's with special loyalty traits, if it is a mainly regional unrest problem.

I think it has more to do with unrest and rebelling characters.

To use the GH for example, Ryazan starts with 80 loyalty, as soon as the idiotic AI moves its garrison out...it will go red.

I won't be able to test this until the weekend, so if someone can test the rebelling characters disabled setting in the descr_strat.txt, that would be very helpful.

I think our solution will be a combination of tweaking the unrest, and disabling the rebelling characters.

TO disable, I believe you can add do wither of the following:

    ;rebelling_characters_active

    rebelling_characters_inactive

    [EDIT]

    DV,

I believe have have modified the traits files, so wait before you make any changes.

Just pm me if you find a traits issue, where i'm needed to fix something (just because there a few quite complex code relations).

Once more to everybody who played or plays a real long campaign:

If you are observing that a faction dies out, although there are settlements and family members, then i have to do something with a few triggers.
