    Default Openoffice available for win/vista

If it's not widely known yet...

    Here , for free
    http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#en-US

If you just don't want to cash out 100s of dollars for word/excel etc...( Micro$oft) then use this, it will open Microsoft Office documents.

It does work, but not all the features are available. If you just want the basics then its a good alternative.

As far as I know, OpenOffice has worked on Windows since its first version, in 1999. In fact it was basically just a repackaged StarOffice, and StarOffice ran on MS-DOS when that was still current, according to its Wikipedia article.
