Is there something wrong with my new HD tv?

i recently bought a Sony Bravia KDL-32400 HD LCD tv

well i do understand the analog channels are supposed to look bad, and that most of the channels in a digital cable package are actually analog.. but

why do my ps3 games look bad as well? i don't know how to describe it. there seems to be sudden color fluctuation. when im in the menu for FIFA 09, the stands in the background start having brightness seizures, it darkens, then brightens then darkens again, ad infinitum. the players look more.. pixelated? not sure if that would be the right word but..

right now it seems that everything has been a drop in quality after purchasing an HD tv, channels look worse, games look worse. i really don't know what the problem is.

It is possible that your Ps3 does not support the Resolution, or you do not have your PS3 set to the correct resolution. I don't have a PS3 so I have no idea but that's possibly the problem.

The game chooses which resolution it plays at, Freddie seems to know the whole shabang, so I think I should let him explain it.

Well I'm one of those bias people who are like "ZOMG XBOOX ROOLZ!", So I don't know anything about the PS3.

alright, nevermind.

i think it was picture mode's fault.

vivid was a horrible choice.
an overload on sharpness, brightness and cool colors.

now i have it set to a custom picture mode and it looks much better.
