Default Anyone else sitting this one out ? (or writing someone in?)

As you might know, I went through my Obama supporting stage awhile ago, and soon grew out of it when I realised that I don't like the guy at all, and I don't support him.

I then decided to grit my teeth and vote for McCain, but I dislike both him and Palin (though I'd bang her) and I think almost all of their policies are idiocy.

So I've decided.. I'm either not voting (haven't even registered to vote yet) or I'm writing in someone else, maybe Ross Perot, for and giggles man..

Anybody else so melancholy, they hate both of them? And what are you going to do about it?

You could simply not vote. But elections are not just a matter of who you like. It's sometimes also about who you like the least. Decide who you like least and vote for the other guy.

The thing is, not voting solves nothing. Either of them is still gonna get elected. And they will influence your life nonetheless.

Well unfortunately a vote for a third party is a vote for the major candidate you'd rather not win. I suppose if you would be equally upset to see McCain or Obama be president, then you're entitled to go ahead and do that to show whoever you end up voting for that they've got at least SOME support out there.

Personally I can't see how anybody could equally dislike Obama and McCain. Honestly McCain has always struck me as a nice guy, and Obama does have a hard political edge to him, but lately I'm starting to think that McCain's nice guy image is nothing but an even harder political edge. Not to mention that generally I agree with Obama's platform, and at least much more of his voting record than McCain.

One thing people should remember is that you can't really judge a politician solely on his voting record. Most of the bills they voted for or against, they voted for or against because of line items in them that were incredibly partisan and/or stupid.

Clinton got the power of line item veto, how about we go one step farther and give congress line item voting capabilities. With today's computers this should be simple.

Exactly. Don't waste your voting power, even though we all know the electoral college decides everything..

I would love to not vote in this election... As I think that we have never had two worse qualified candidates ever...and the fact that in 18 days one of these two screwballs with actually be the elected president is a very very scary thought. (but in a very rare event I agree with dwringer)...not voting is essentially a vote for the person I dont want in more....Obama...

I really dislike McCain... and have come very close to not voting for him...but in light how how (inexplicably) close this election is, and the fact that thaks to organizations like ACRON (and the fact my secratary of state is a willing partner) is cheating to the extent of 200,000 questonable registrations... I need to push that aside and vote for him as every vote against Obama is needed...

I thought about voting for a 3rd party as a protest, but I think I'm going to hold my nose and vote for one of the big two.

I'd like to point out that most/all of the questonable registrations will not vote. Many of the registrations were for Micky Mouse or some some thing. There is NO way ANY one would hand a ballot to some one claming to be Micky Mouse. My guess is that ACORN was paying people to registered voters based on the number of voters registered, so they made up fake names to get cash, not to get voters. Sorry for the off topic-ness.

So you dislike both candidates and you think almost all of McCain's policies are idiotic = a vote for McCain?

And what specifically changed your mind about Obama?

Everyone knows Bu$h will cancel the elections and declare himself God-Emperor of America anyway, so you don't really need to worry about it.

Wouldn't that be a vote for both of them? Can we do this?!

In the American system, voting is a complete waste of time for 95% of the people, I don't understand why so many of them still bother.

If I were an American, I would only vote if I happened to live in a swing state AND if there happened to be a considerable difference between the candidates.

In fact: if I were president, I would simply ban voting in most states.
Only swing states should hold an election, because the election is costing the economy countless millions. (think about the millions of people not working because they have to get registered and then go to the voting booth)

You are aware that there a great many candidates on the ballot for many state and local offices? There are also many states with a pile of referenda and state constitutional issues. The president and federal legislative are not the only reasons to get out and vote. Or do you not bother to vote where ever your legal residence is either? Hmmmm.
