    Default Advisor & all

    Dear DimeBagHo,
I have started a campaign (playing as Rome) of XGM, and I have the feeling that no advisor is on. Just a silly question: how can I put him "on" and set him to low? I am sure this is very obvious, and sorry for the question.

When you start a new campaign there is a option which lets you select the amount of advice you want. If you have already started a campaign hit the Esc key, and a menu will appear, then click on the "Game options" tab. In there will be a box with the advice level that is currently set, you can change it.

Well there are two ways of doing this frist is when you start a campiagn and on the top where the options are you'll will see it there. Or if that should fail look in your pref file and turn look for advisor on to "true". Hope this helps or you can go into campiagn options and If I remeber correctly it in the game option menu.

    Dear all,
Do I have to do anything once I have activated the advisor? How do I know that it is activated? I have a campaign already running, and I can't see the advisor popping up.
    Thank you very much,
    FFJean

If you've gone to game options and set it to low, it will pop up when you press the ? button on any scrolls, or when an advisor script is activated, like the garrison scripts, Peace with the Dead script, or force diplo. If you really want to know its on, set it to high and go into a battle, it will give you tons of useless advice...

    Dear all,
Is there a way I can ensure that the advisor is on? Syracuse has been seiged by the Carthaginians, and no huge army has been made available to the Greeks defending it. Does it shows that the scripts are not working?

The garrison scripts only fire if the player attacks. They won't fire if one AI faction attacks another AI faction.

    Thank you all,
And thank you DimeBagHo. Just another question: how are the reformes triggered? I think I saw somewhere this, but can't find it.

The Romans have to build an Imperial Palace somewhere in Italy other than Rome.

    Dear DimeBagHo,
Thank you for your reply. Am I right to understand that there is just one reform for the Romans? And can I ask what is the impact of this reform?

As has been said, go to game options, and look if it is on. It it says low. medium, or high its is on, if it says off, it isn't. If your really paranoid about it, set it to high and go into a battle. The advisor will pop up with advice when you select units and such.

    Dear DBH,
Is there anywhere the list of reformed units with cost to buy & cost to maintain?
    Thank you,

The costs are similar to the pre-reform units. You can see what they are by going to the custom battle unit selection screen. Upkeep is almost always half of the initial cost.
