jakobh94, unfortunately cannot give a specific advice: did not play Thrace yet. Just a few observations.
I am afraid on VH AI armies got too much of a morale bonus. Add to this the fact that in XGMD units have on average a higher stamina than in vanilla or XGM. Therefore, many units, even average ones, will fight to the last 10-15 man and will be difficult to route. Therefore, your losses will be high. Therefore, all your income will go into recruiting and retraining your units. Can you see the picture better now?
P.S. Well, I played as Dacia once and initially got stomped by Thrace on H/H.
Well, yes. I know this Campaign script system is rather ironic, annoying and backstabbing. As it happens to be, whenever you are Thrace, the Getai get a lot of extra troops. Whereas if you play as Getai, the Thracians will get a lot of extra troops.
What I suggest is to draw out as many units as you can to the front lines and keep as less garrisoned as possible. Try to build economic buildings if possible and then try to get a lot cavalry(!!!). If you have an equal amount of cavalry and infantry units, your campaign will be rather easy. Hammer and anvil tactic will always work!

I use them but i dont get any units, i have Large Barbarian thing and i can only get the Thureopori unit, any luck helping me on this?
jacobh94, I would suggest building Auxiliary barracks in Seutopilis and Tomi. In auxiliary barracks in these cities you could train both helenic and barbarian units. In Istopolis you could go with "large barbarian things", which would give you access to a few unique barbarian units. (N.B. Indeed, at the start of the campaign you cannot train any units in this place. I guess, a barrack could be added to that settlement in a comming patch.)
Anyway, here is a screenshot I took after the second turn. As you can see, Getai forces are pretty spread, so you could try catching off guard their small armies and perhaps strike a settlement or two.
P.S. Look into buildings browser to be sure about units you can train in each barrack type.

Well... I recently managed to Control the Getai cities except the one in the north... But then some irritating Greeks came and ruined everything. I send out spies before my attacks and learned that their settlements income were not lower then 5000- in each city... So they couldnt manage any units= They got spanked.
The Getai have been bestowed with some pretty serious handicaps to keep them in check, this is to keep them from expanding through half europe in ~10 years. Hopefully it doesn't make them too easy to beat.
