"Bestbuy" Unit

In R:TW there is a secret unit which is amazing and does not involve cheats. They are might powerful Elephant war units and are great for ploughing down enemy. The reason most people don't know about this is because of time it takes to get to Hyperboria!

Instructions

• Go to the North Provience (where Russia now is) of Hyperboria
• Click Buy Mercenary Units
• Buy the Elephant unit named "Yubtseb"

The reason most people don't know about this is because of time it takes to get to Hyperboria!
Now look at the word "Yubtseb". When we put it backwards, we get ...

Yubtseb = Bestbuy

Although I discovered the units from the cheat, I modded rome to make them much more expensive and send generals out to recruit them. Costs a forune to hire and keep, but are deadly in battles.

I knew this from the cheat, but never knew that they came in as mercenaries in Russia as well. They must be frozen cold!

Never knew one could get them without cheating. The cheat is quite tempting though considering one has to get all the way to Russia to recruit them...

I knew of the unit--I believe you use a cheat to get them, although I never actually got them without cheats so someone might have to fill me up on that.

If you want to access it, got to C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data directory and open up the export_descr_unit.txt file in WordPad. Research 'oliphant' and you find this:

You have to make them avaliable so go to the export_descr_buildings.txt. Add:

recruit "cheat oliphants"  0  requires factions { carthage, parthia, macedon, seleucid, roman, }

or any faction of your choice!

They are actually an amazing unit and you have to play as them first until you can make an opinion, thats how I see it.

The way I use armoured elephants and yubsteb elephants is as massed flankers for my seleuccid army. Silver shields and elephants - evil combination!

It's the archers who do the real damage, the elephants just toss everything into the air but don't actually kill them.

Yes in the initial charge, they wont kill anyone, BUT once you got them to not charge and just stump at will THEN thats where the killing begins and romans soaring 200 feet.

Charging elephants may not kill the enemy, but they do break up the enemy formation very easily. I normally follow up a charge by elephants with a katatank charge. This normally spells the end for any unit.

I once had a Roman flying through the air a couple of hundreds meters, fell on the ground, got up on his feet, ran a minute to get back to the yubtseb and then got shot down by an archer
