    I've done a couple of things over the months, but here's one of them..

    Make a notepad file with this in the file

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Mods\Unofficial\0001Stainless_Steel]
    "Author"="King Kong"
    "ConfigFile"="Stainless_Steel_Kingdoms.cfg"
    "DisplayName"="Stainless Steel"
    "FullName"="Stainless Steel"
    "GameExe"="kingdoms.exe"
    "Language"="English"
    "Path"="mods/Stainless_Steel"
    "Version"="6.1"

    Save it as .reg, and say yes. I believe that's what makes it tick. I'm also in Vista.

    I've gotten 6.1 to work with steam. I'm on XP though. I can't understand the problem though... can you just not get SS to work at all... or is it the 6.1 patch specifically?

    The one problem I had (although I think its just a generic problem not steam related) is that the 6.1 patch didn't always work. I've reinstalled M2TW + SS multiple times in the same manner and I never registered 6.1. Then I installed BtR (submod that improves byzantine campaign/roster) and I got 6.1 to work for the first time. Then I had to reinstall all of my mods recently and I'm stuck at 6.0 now (only BtR and crimson tide at the moment) but the game is working pretty good.

    Or is your problem about how to install mods when using steam? If thats the problem you have to redirect the installer for all the parts (part 1 + part 2 + 6.1) to the files program files/ steam / steamapps/ common / medieval 2 total war.

    Where do I save the file?

    Sorry to dredge this up, but i need some serious help. I've come across CC's recommendations to search the forums for steam to find a guide to install, but i cannot for the life of me figure this out.

    I have Both m2tw and kingdoms downloaded and installed through steam.

    I have 6.0 (parts 1 and 2) and the 6.1 patch, but i have several problems:

    1) I cannot find where the directors for m2tw and kingdoms even are. they are not in the 'Steam' folder within program files

    2) No where does it say where the might otherwise be.

    Im sorry my issues are so multi tiered, but if someone could pm me with explicit instructions on how to install the mod with a VISTA STEAM versions, i would be incredibly obliged.

    k some dude sent me an email and said to install it into 'steam\steamapps\medieval ii total war -and go from there, so im installing part1 of 2 there. if this isnt correct, please tell me.

    The default for steam i believe is "\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war" example mine is "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war" Direct the installer to there and it should work fine. Also if your having issues getting it to launch you can go into "medieval ii total war\mods" and rename "Stainless_Steel_6" to "americas" or whatever kindom exp you dont like, just change your old one to like america_old. Should solve your issues, if you still haveing issues you can drop me an email..
