Massive legion conquest?
Did you tried only legions/melee infantry strategy with some of the roman factions? I mean they have good armor/weapons and pilas so they can even kill elephants/cavalry/chariots. Ofcorse i will suffer heavy loses in some battles but if play only on infantry it's not hard to build barracks in every village rather than cavalry/archery and stuff...
Did you think this is a good strategy?

It is quite a fun strategy, you can use mercenaries if you need a little more oomph.

i use my general to catch routers and use infantry almost exclusively with all the infantry dominated factions. my favuorite is the principes and then legions.

Re: Massive legion conquest?
In custom battle on medium difficulty the enemy warbands/swordmens/naked fanatics routed because they couldn't breach my defence which was hastati 6 groups having in mind my bigger army was behind them doing nothing and that the enemy assaulted them with like half his army. So legionary are great for defence and even with few loses. While they are routing are very easy to kill with general. However it is good the general to be near the units for morale or use second general? But I am not sure if he gives morale at all if he is not the most important general in the battle.

I don't think its a very sensible strategy, but hey, we all can have fun, right?
