i think this mod is very great and i dont want to criticise on the changes you made but there is one thing about this mod that i really dont like

in this mod its not possible to recruit legionaires in settlements who dont have legio behind there name. this is all wel and good but what is really anoing is that you also cant retrain them in these settlements. and the real romans could after the reforms of gaius marius(the just put poor lowlife scum in there army and then gave them farmlands and stuf after there fighting days were over

p.s. sorry for my bad english

not really possible though because of all the different legion numbers

hmm:hmmm: perhaps but in this mod the legion numbers arn't of any use there just for fun
i'm just saing that post-marian legionaires should be able to retrain everywere because thats more historicaly accurate

yes but then you'd have to get rid of all the numbers and legion histories which would definetly be a shame and the whole point of auxilia swordsmen is to fill the gaps in a legion once you start to suffer casualties

I understand being annoyed by that, but that is actually one of the best things about the mod.

The legions go out to campaign, they get beaten down and take casualties, and these are replaced by auxiliary troops, and then eventually you send the legion back to Italy (well, you can have legions from Gaul, Spain, Germania and the Balkans) and refill their ranks, on a cycle. The logistical thinking and specific legion history are what I love about SPQR.

Not just that its historical. Roman Legions are NOT like modern armies they didnt POOL men from around the empire into ONE legion. they recruited a Legion in ONE area and that was it! If the Legion suffered Losses there WERE NOT replaced, this is why later on you would have 50% legions floating around, if it wasnt for their SUPPORT Alae or auxilia they would be overwelmed by Legionary losses. You need to LEARN in SPQR HOW to use your Legionaries. Dont play a War of attrition with them. Let your auxilia units take the heat and save those baddies as best you can while still engaging them to get experience.

SPQR is pretty realistic in this area of Romes Empire. Alot complain how its not historical that they enemy sends waves of armies, but then RTW isnt historical in Having the Correct SIZE of an army where the AI should be able to have armies 50 units strong compared to the romans 20. So this is simulated in the fact the AI can produce more Armies than the Roman player, but the Romans have better units and the Human Player.

If you want to see HOW BAD the AI is in RTW in General just play another nation and see HOW FAST Rome falls when the AI handles it! This gives you the Idea of how MUCH the Human player takes for granted when they play. How can you make a Moron (AI) challenging? By giving them the ADVANTAGE! ;-)

its just that its anoing that if a legion has fought a battle and is low on soldiers but still uses up 20 units you cant replace your loses with auxilaries(and with me thats always the case because i never have a unit that gets completely destroyed in battle)
(i dont get me wrong, i love this mod)

Merge the understrength cohorts together, by pushing "M" when the army is selected. Then put auxilia into the open slots.

Well can't be that "good" if this basic move is unknown to you...it's not like this is a new feature in SPQR

topic: unfortunately my machine is too old and I can't really get the taste of the brilliant new graphics but the gameplay alone is far superior to vanilla...it's the first mod i tried and I don't think there's much to add anymore...for me it's a perfect mix of a more historical approach and long term motivation due to overall superior gameplay

It wasn't meant as an offense, just an observation...don't know if that's an indication for a good player if anyone wins against 40 unknown people...never tried it online...I always loved the campaignmode because you get a cause why you fight and have to face the consequences...I never liked custom battles as well...useful to try certain things but that's it...it all depends on personal taste, so if that's your thing it's cool

you should try out a few online battles and you'll find how good you really are when i first did some online battles i found out i needed allot of practise but after a few months i could kick the best strategist their asses(but there is one anoying sideeffect from playing online: if you get used to that hard fighting the AI in the campaign game will be easy to win from and wont be challange anymore)
