Default Wheelchairs Antec 900 Review (With Pics!)

I just got my Antec 900 case, Whooooo what a beautiful case indeed.

I bought this case for 2 reasons: 1, It looks amazing and 2, It has 4 fans in it, 3 150MM and 1 200MM (ITS MASSIVE)

It was my first time completely gutting a PC and putting all the parts in by myself; Usually I'd just need to take out the MoBo and such but I was completely new to all this, and it went pretty well.

I ran into a problem and my heart stopped, I went to connect my 8Pin Cable (to power the Motherboard) and it BARELY reaches, like there's not even a quarter of an inch leeway, which is kind of ridiculous and I'm getting quite worried. I'm using a 8600GT until my HD4850 gets back from the repair shop and the Wires are touching the 8600 and there's nothing I can do about it except by some cable extensions, Should I be worried?

Also when I went to turn on the PC, nothing happened, my heart stopped again! I like triple checked all my cables to make sure they were in but nothing! I then realized I had plugged in the PwrStch and RstBtn into the wrong 2Pin connectors, I Finally fixed it!

I encountered alot of problems with this case, but it was mostly user error and lack of knowledge of how to put a case together but through Trial and Error I able to overcome any obstacles this Case threw at me!

    Strengths:

-Plenty of room, although I can see an HeatSink (Zalman or TuniqTower) Being a very tight fit.
    - Has more cooling then a wind tunnel!
    - Possibly the best looking case I've ever seen (next to its big brother the 1200)

    Weaknesses:

    - Cables are difficult to manage to look nice.
    - any ATi 4000 series and any 200 Nvidia series cards might have a tight fit if you have alot of HDD's.

I was thinking of getting the Antec P182, I was going to get the 900 but the lack of a removable motherboard tray put me off. I notice from your review neat cabling is a struggle I have the same issue with my current case and this is one of the issues I looking to address in my next build. The P182's removable tray means I can tuck all the cables away in the back of the case so they don't interfere with airflow.

Lat week I was in Tottenham Court Road in London and I popped into a Shop called Yoyo tech. If your even in London and like looking at computer gear first hand this is the place to go. All the along the counter they had all the best Tower cases money can buy (including all the Antec already mentioned) and I never realised just how big cases like the Antec 1200 were. This thing was HUGE it had to be a meter tall, I was thinking about buying it but I now I’ve seen it first hand I realise I just don’t have the space.

Nice review, I would love to see some pics.

Nice case, WC! I ALMOST got the Nvidia version of the same case...

    http://store.nvidia.com/DRHM/servlet...uctID=84512700

...but decided against it after I found a free cpu combo @ newegg with the case I ended up getting b/c it had more room...and a free cpu. (Silverstone Kublai 3)

As for your wiring problem, that's just experience. No big deal. You'll still have a great time taking care of that system. Now you'll just know for the next time you go shopping. It's rather difficult to get a feel for what you can and can't do with different equipment by just looking at numbers and specs.

If you got a modular PSU, I'd contact the PSU manufacturer and see if they have any longer tails available for purchase. (Non-modular PSU's, while being better for current and amperage efficiency also *usually* have longer tails that are better for cable management.)
If that's not the case, an 8-pin extension can be had for less than $10.

    *edit*
Here. I found your 8-pin extension cable...
    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=2514
...and you can even choose the color of the sleeving and heatshrink.

Look around there a bit. You might find some cool stuff you hadn't seen as they pride themselves on having or being able to obtain hard to find stuff. (Aquastream USB watercooling pumps for instance).
They're one of my all time favorite PC parts sites on the net. The site isn't as "cool" as some others, but they've definitely got way more goods than most. I just got a 5" video LCD drive bay that I'd been looking for for a few months and couldn't find outside the UK.

I've ordered stuff from there for a few years though and never had a bad experience. Most of my watercooling stuff came from there, FrozenCPU, or Xoxide.

Have the case and only minuses are that it is noisy (though its not meant to be quiet in first place) and that I had to remove one of the fan-detachment thingies next to HDD's to fit 9800GTX in.

If you run on high its Semi-audible, but It's the sound of Power! Kinda.

The difference between low and medium is hardly noticeable; you'd need to put your eat right to the case to even hear it.

Once I get my HD4850 back I'll crank up the fanspeed to High and put my videocard to high, and OC my processor.

Wow thanks Pentup! that's What I need, Although I live in Canada so I usually shop from .ca sites ahah.

I LOVE sleeves, Is definately makes the difference on how good your inner case looks

Yer I have the antec 900 and it's an excellent case even though the same as you I struggled with the length of cables with it. The removable hard drive bays is a nice feature of it, makes fitting them less of a hassle. My only real complaint is the top fan is propriety and quite brittle from what I have read which could be an expencive hassle if it does break.

Hmm, there should be no reason to have your hands near it though, so it should'nt break hah.

Freddie, this case is huge! Alot bigger then I thought it was. I walked into my suppliers store and seen it and almost crapped my pants! Another downfall I would pointout is that this thing weighs a ! Probably around 50 or 60 pounds!

Its easier to carry than most cases (when there is all components inside) PSU being one of the heaviest components and resides in bottom of the case.

You're right. Although the case is heavy it has rubber studs on the bottom like legs, so when your fingers are under the case carrying it the rubber stubs give you a distance between the ground and the case so you can set it down easily while maintaining good grip on it
