Icon14 a trick for getting generals bodyguards

whenever I need some more general body guards, here is what I do:

lets say I have a full, stack army. What I do is to select the unit with lowest troops and move it away from the army. Then I attack some medium to strong enemy army with this one unit with the rest of my army as reinaforcment.
After you achieve victory, the captain will usualy become man of the hour. and you would've got your self a new general.

I should try that. You'd think the game would overlook this loophole.

It does... The odds don't change if your army is broken up into pieces. You've just got low FM counts if this works a lot.

Am I the only one who has no problem finding enough family members? I seem to have more than enough to go around. Mind you, I play with manage all settlements for sanity's sake.

Actualy I never have family members problems, but I do this when I'm blitzing to get new genrals quickly (without waiting for sons to grow up)

I don't usually have any FM problems... Unless a couple die at game start. My only problem is getting competent ones, the ones you get that come of age are too often incompetent morons.

I usually share ancilliaries to create one dunce FM and try to make the rest half decent. Temples giving good ancilliaries are very useful in this respect. Same for academies. Other than that, I just use generals a lot to train them up. NEVER build taverns in settlements, unless you want drunken incompetant FM's.

just make new traits and ancillaries and cheat to give those to the general, and you directly have a general with 12 everything and that is loved by the senate and the people alike

My strategy is to use generals in battle no matter how traitless they are. Even if you have a general with no command, a few wins and you'll have yourself a military genious.

I prefer generals with genius or intelligent or natural born commander traits rather than starting with confident commander. That way I can train up generals to become lethal.

I love making barbarian generals who, if im defending, have no command stars at all. When attacking I have 11 stars! Natural Born Commander, Beserker, Legendary Attacker and Priest of Hebelysis. Ouch!

Ye, its a good idea if you need a good/fast general.
But most people dont have FM problems I think...

    This doesn't work.

The game takes into account all of the armies in the battle.

    Hmm...

You must remove some infantry and cavalry from your Generals army.
    So you get a captain.

Then If you defeat a bigger opponent army with the captain you ( most of the times ) prob. make the captain '' man of the hour -> General if accepted '''
