Default A conversation for the Croats/Bosniaks/Balkanologists

First off, a disclaimer: No, this is not a thread to flame each other over who did what, who started what, bla, bla, bla. This thread has a purpose.

I have a research topic coming up on the subject of local democracy. I am going to write a paper covering developments in the town of Gornji Vakuf / Uskoplje. From what background info I have ascertained thus far, it is a municipality that was a site of conflict during the Croatian-Bosnian phase of the Bosnian War. Though reconciled within Bosnia-Herzegovina after the war and exit of the HVO (Croation defense forces), there still appears to be some trouble brewing in this small town.

What I need to know, hopefully from fellow forum-goers from Croatia or Bosnia -- what is the situation there regarding ethnic tensions and civil order? Is democracy taking root there and in surrounding regions, or is it sowing discord amongst the populations? I will of course be pursuing the answers on my own through literary means, but it would be of great help if I could get real stories from the ground.
