Icon10 I've heard they say no balrogs, but...

    I've heard* (typo in title)

Couldn't we just get the balrog as a siege weapon that roar while roaming about and farts sulfur?

if in kingdoms there are more then one type of siege weapons for each faction I'm sure it's possible to yank a balrog model from somewhere and shove it in this mod instead of that crappy flare box with the fireworks that are suppose to hit enemy infantry but ends up just telling the whole armies of hell where you are.

C'mon, if we could have had some decent wizard in lotr that are raining fire and casting Armageddon spells I'd never ask but all we got is an old nut-case that is to busy waving a stick in front of an angry demon and charming butterflies!
Gosh, wonder he wind up dead!

BTW, dragons might work in the same way...

Remember helms deep battle with the bomb in the wall?
In a way, that works like a ladder, a unit picks it up and places it by the enemy's' walls and click the drop button which ignites it and after a while - it explodes.

anyways, I'm off to eat some cookies.

Dragons could work better. But where're some another problems with them. And making Barlogs is not so hard too. I asked to add one in game. But other team-members are opposite it

We have been opposite because computers would be unable to handle all that fire animation. I'm not a modder so I don't really know for sure why.

Middle-earth is a realistic fantasy world and magicians who are "raining fire and casting Armageddon spells" would just ruin beauty of it.

If there was a way to implement a balrog and to actually make one without too much trouble, I'd be all for adding it to the game - if it was hard to handle for weaker computers, it might simply be an option you choose upon installing. (e.g, balrogs: yes[ ] no [ ]).

But from what I've heard, both balrogs and dragons wouldn't only be hard to make but also to implement in the game - balance/fairness, pathing and handling the way they fight/spit fire and so on are only a few issues I guess.

well.....instead of someone making an entire army of balrogs....(which would be awesome ) and crashing the game..

since its the third age there would be very few if any balrogs at all... so you could make them super hard to recruit and make them take like 16 turns to recruit, exclusive to certain factions. it would make the orcs of misty mountain a hella alot more appealing to play.

    No balrogs.
They would be hard and very tedious to make, they'd be virtually unbeatable and they don't belong in a Total War Game.

Anyway there were only few balrogs left so making of balrog unit would be unrealistic and unuseful.

    1. One Balrog would be able to destroy all of Gondor.

    2. Immpossible to make.

    3. The Balrog of Khazadum was the only one known to be left and it never went outside.

    4. A balrog would not be a part of Orcs of MM but rather would create his own faction or work for Sauron. Only the fact that the Balrog was sleeping in Khazadum changed that in the real story.

Actually Gandalf was very lucky to defeat the balrog... Even more so to live to tell about it.

If there wasn't the bridge and gorge... Gandalf didn't seem to be able to fight balrog at all.

I'm against it as well. Not that my opinion matters, but still.

I really don't think a Balrog would fit this game/mod.

AS it was said the balrogs are one of the most powerful creatures so making one to fight in the field would be like having a bomber and nuclear bomb..
If i am not wrong it was said in books that the balrogs is creature of fire and smoke so guess would the steel weapons and arrows affect them.
Further more the only one known to exist (balrog) was the one in moria and we all know why and how it was defeated (with a BIGG LUCK and by a gandalf witch is something like the conterpart of the balrog)...

well, gandalf was in his weakly old human form, in his true form, it is arguable that Gandalf could have defeated Sauron by himself. :hmmm: Or least I read that somewhere.
