Okay, I was playing as HRE last night. I had started war on almost all fronts, thrashing Poland, Genoa, France and Denmark. Not surprisingly, I got excomunicated.
So I got my little diplomat to take a little trip down the italian peninsula and meet with the pope at rome. His demands for reconciliation were too high, so I just gifted him 1000 for like 10 turns, hoping i would get back into his good books and get reconciled that way.
10 turns later, I was still excom'd
Looking at my Papal favour, I had about 7 crosses, so I was fairly well up there. Then I looked at my "Request for Crusade" option. I really didnt think this would work, but apparently I was eligible to request a crusade, even though I was excom'd (I'm guessing it was because of my high favour).
Now the first option for a settlement to crusade was no other than Frankfurt. I thought, "no way, there's no way I could call a crusade on myself". Nevertheless, I tried just for the sake of it, and honest to god, the Pope accepted. I got a general and a few men and they were ABLE TO JOIN THE CRUSADE!!!
So here I am, I've called a crusade on MYSELF, and I've got my own men ready to attack my own capital city.
Unfortunately, I loaded my autosave, because I didn't actually want to have a crusade on me, so I've no idea if my crusading army is actually able to attack my own city.
Pretty hilarious i thought![]()
