    Default The Spartans of newcastle??

I just got about fighting several pitched battles, one of which a desperate struggle with the Earl of Newcastle and his regiments.During the course of this clash we saw Fairfax at his best as his men pushed forth through what seemed an impossible struggle.During the midst of this and other playthroughs I noticed that Newcastles boys have this extraordinary tendency to fight to the last man falls. Many other a good regiment breaks after perhaps a 1/3 to a 1/2 their men join the fallen,bu newcasltes boys stand their ground and let their blood be their legacy of the fight that transpired. Now I have heard many a tale of the notoriety of the Blew Coates standing their ground, but I have not come across this. Were they historically really so stoic in the face of imminent anihilation????

I gave the whitecoats higher morale because of their stand at marston moor. They practically fought to the last man there.

The triumphant allies now turned on the remains of the Royalist centre, overrunning successive units and cutting down many fugitives. Finally some of Newcastle's foot, the "Whitecoats", gathered for a last stand in a ditched enclosure. This has been suggested to be White Sike Close, in the rear of the Royalists' original position, but another strong possibility is Fox Covert, a mile north of Long Marston on the natural line of retreat towards York.[24] The Whitecoats refused quarter and repulsed constant cavalry charges until infantry and dragoons were brought up to break their formation. The last 30 survivors finally surrendered.[38]

thanx for the info,an amazing stand indeed, and i will say that you have done an incredible job of replicating this in the game, for as i poured shot into their lines and charged their flank I wondered if these men would ever break!!!bravo indeed at preserving the legacy of these iron men

It's fairly standard for Newcastle FC fans to remove shirts in the dead of winter, usually followed by shouts of YOU SOFT SOUTHERN BASTARDS if they're playing a southern team.

It was more common in the 80s though, but then of course London was booming and the north was in the throes of depression and the standard retort was to wave huge wads of cash at them
