Default Royalist land within the Parliament

after playing as the parliament i noticed that the land in the south is owned by the royalists at start. Not only does this baffle me alot (why the hell would you rebel from the side you live in the middle of???), but i saw this small map of the ECW
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...42_to_1645.JPG

    another map

    http://www.hinchhouse.org.uk/civilwar/warmap.html

and notice that the land in the southern area of the Parliament was not owned by the Royalists. However i know there might be errors so im just curious. the land im refering to is in the south and it is a town and a castle guarded by a large stack

The maps you using are far too crude to base any opinion on.

This map shows who controlled which settlements at the time.

It's not about rebelling, it's the exact opposite.

Basing House, Farnham Castle, Winchester, Arundel and Portsmouth all declared for the King. Some of them had garissons of no more than 100 men.

    Read these two pages:

i figured the maps were crude but i didnt expect them to miss that region since it's rather big piece of land.
the map is not showing up. says Page not Found and has redirect links across the bottom

Neither side really controlled the land, the Royalists garissoned troops in those towns/castles and therefore they 'belonged' to the king.

It's the same map as on the first weblink.
