Um no law was passed for Mccain, what you probably mean is the non binding resolution after morons started to suggest Mccain wasnt eligible. It is a nonsense issue on both cases.

McCain was born on a military instalation in Panama to parents stationed there. The laws are very clear about this: He is a citizen. I have had alot of friends have children while stationed over seas, and there is never any question of their national citizenship status.

Actually, no. Infact, I am generally very severe in my judgements.

Fact is: the idea is simple, elegant and masterful. And you cannot object. At least logically.

I can think of only one reason why Obama is doing so. That would be that he wants to exploit this as a further weapon in his campaign later, by disproving the claim. That might work, the rest, no.

Is that even relevant? I mean, in the remotest sense? Here you have someone with a clear plan for the future and who's probably your best bet at getting the country back to Clinton levels of financial prosperity, and some guy is going to try and discredit him because Obama's mother might not have emptied the contents of her womb in a US hospital.

My point was more that it's a rather pointless addition to law. I think in Schwarzy's case the point is more obvious. He spent the first 21 years of his live outside the US. Obviously a US president would require more than that. Hell, he still can't speak accentless English .

I think the location of someone's place of birth is about as irrelevant as it gets really. I understand that it's in the law. I'm just saying that it needs to be changed and that IMO common sense dictates it should just be ignored.

Probably not an entirely uncontroversional thing to say, but I think that if a people value the location of childbirth more than they value the history of a presidential candidate in their country and his plans for the future, they don't even deserve him.

Obama can become prime minister over here in Europe any day of the week, watch me care about where he spent the rest of his life 8D

EDIT: And IMO, Schwarzenegger should be allowed to run for Pres. just the same. I think it's a ridiculous limitation. When was this even added? Because until Martin van Buren, the 8th pres of the US, no American president was even born an American citizen (edit: this previously said "american soil" which is wrong). Which of course entirely makes sense. But it makes me understand why this law was added even less.
