    Default stupid, annoying AI

I really hate the EU3 AI.
    for example:
they have a total of 50000 troops. they split the army into 50 regiments, and then move on to each of my provs. so I take 10000 men, and defeat each regiment. but these idiots won't evacuate their armys and form 2-3 large forces, they just don't do anything. then, after their armies are defeated, I invade their territory and and occupies half of their land(let's say it's 15 provs). so they offer me a peace treaty: I pay them 500 ducats and release a nation as a soverign nation in exchange for peace(). so I occupy more of their provinces until they have only a really few provinces left. then I ofer them a peace treaty, and they only agree that they will give me 1-2 provs.
    what a stupid AI.

I AI can't grasp that concept that they are loosing a war. I take all of ottoman possesion in the baltic area and i only get 2 territories. I agree with you and plus rep+

I don't see that problem in In Nomine. The AI is often strolling around with stacks of 20,000+. And i get pretty reasonable peace deals, too.

The one thing that bothers me is how they waste their money. When a country that has 1/3 of my income has an army twice as big and a navy 5 times as big, it's just stupid. Especially since they sit there with their -3 stability, tons of rebels, -30 prestige and admire their mighty army, then still get their arses kicked by me because my men have better morale/discipline...

Well then, in fairness, he shouldn't be complaining about the AI being stupid if he doesn't have the most updated AI

Totally agree. This is probably the only thing that annoys me about the AI. It seems to be worse with Russian Nations. Muscovy have that national decision that gives them 14,000 troops instantly and they use it so crapply. At the start of my current Russian game, Muscovy, despite having an annual income of far less then me and a land support limit of 13, had 26,000 troops, nearly double the amount I could just barely support!

As for the OP's post, I never have that problem. The AI usually have very well numbered armies in my experience. With some 5,000 man armies backed up with maybe an 8,000 or 9,000 one.

Your other point is what annoys me most when I see this stupid complaint. You claim that the AI is stupid because it only gave you two provinces in the peace deal? Are you saying that for the AI to be smart it must give you all of its provinces in the peace deal? That is not stupid AI, infact, in some cases its more intelligent then the player. Why shouldn't the AI hold out and try to get the best deal possible?

Well, regarding peace, I never give the AI provinces. Never. No matter how bad the situation is...I simply never give them anything. I fight on until white peace if nothing else.

Of course there is the difference that I can actually turn th situation around while the AI can never achieve that. Once it starts to lose, it keeps on losing.

    I remember another thing:
As Austria, I was in war with the Ottomans. I killed all their armies, conquered Bosnia, Serbia, Albania Kosovo, Macedonia, Half of Greece and half of Bulgaria, while the russians pccupied the rest of Bulgaria and all the Ottoman provinces in Romania, and the bastards didn't agree to give me one god damn province.

And your point is? You're just further proving the AI's intelligence

The A.I ignores the other A.I's occupied provinces unless you're allied. You usually don't get more than 3 provinces unless they're a weak faction. I got Atjeh and Malacca to give me all their provinces in my England game.

that's not smart, that's just annoying, difficulty for the sake of difficulty, which I hate more than anything.

Its not stupid and it makes sense. Two or three provinces in a peace deal is far better then taking 10 or 15 for gameplay and for realism

It only makes sense for gameplay to keep you from expanding too much. Realism no, if you completely occupy a country, they better give you most of their lands.

Well, they have nothing to back up their authority anymore, thus they are impotent, so their point is moot, proceed as you wish. A free home delivery drastic increase in BB and massive rebellious activity may be included, but that's a whole nother story.

    Easy.

It's the stuff that's improperly called "Reputation" in the game.

But in all the files it's called badboy, hence people usually call it badboy. (As do the developers I believe)

    Grrr

One thing i really, really hate is that idiotic battle "system" of theirs
As i understand implementing HOI's excellent system was too much work, so some brainiac decided to just randomize the results instead
So basically in EU, two generals meet, flip a coin (or roll some dice, depending on preference), and the loser... well, loses. Screw discipline, terrain, unit type, all that, since a "bad roll" will happily negate all that and effectively lose the battle for you.

The reason i'm ranting about this is that my campaign was effectively ended by what i can only describe as "bad luck". Meaning, in many battles in a row, my dice rolls were (and i wrote this up actually); 0 1 2 0 5 2 2 0 3 1 4 0 2 1 0 2 3 1 0 4 etc etc. While the enemy rolled mostly in the 5-8 range. So, despite me having numerical superiority, more advanced units (land tech of 16 vs 12), better discipline and better morale, my armies not only lost, but were annihilated

WHY WAS THIS DONE???? I say again, HoI2 has a near-perfect battle system, yet Paradox continues to put this nonsense in EU...

Well, eventually, chance will make you lucky. You can't roll a dice forever and not hit "8".

Also, your general effects the outcome drastically. If you have a general which gives 4 shock + 4 fire, you can nearly negate the dice. Sometimes it's worth converting your ruler into a general if you struggle with low funds/crappy army tradition. Nevermind the possible outcome of him dieing and you being placed under someone in a union.
