Well with the gauls just try to fight defensive battles mostly. Oh and use the shield wall formation. Its the buttom that used to change formations to loose, but now makes them shield walls.

And I think you should pull at least one legion from the north to aid the greece campaign. Remember to use force concentration.

Ya I usually try my hardest not to let the AI control any armies. Once you get a good hold on greece and macedonia though you will have a good deal of money to raise new legions.

don' t forget to disable the reinforcement legions. i mean put them under your control not the ai s control. generals charge very fast in enemy lines and get killed even fasther.

Lol, actually, to the never let AI control your army point, if Im fighting like 6-8 stack battle, I aint sending my legions one by one to get killed. Rather have generals dead then whole army dead. Not that costy

If the general is an idiot anyway it's not too sad when he commits suicide...if necessary I always play the most skilled myself but try to protect the others as good as possible...it's not like "more Stars=less suicidal" or is it?...I never saw a difference

yep. I allways have at least 2 family members/general commanding an army just in case, that way if the stupid AI kills 1 there is a chance the other one will live. However never let the AI take control of your best men, and especially not of you best generals. Give it the ones that are just beginning a career, if they make it they'll prove they are worthy .

Wait so what unit do you switch out so you have an open spot?

Mmm velites or slingers/archers. Generally my legions' only mandatory things are the 10 cohorts, 1 missile, 1 javelin, and 2 cav (or 5 hastatii, 5 princeps and 3 triarii for premarian). After that I pretty much fill the extra space with whatever I want/is available.
