Default Recuiting Enemy or Rebel Generals

Does anyone have any tricks for recruiting enemy generals? I haven't been able to make an enemy general switch sides in years! I see rebel generals with family names but have never been able to recruit them. I have seen Gallic family members in Roman armies and I have seen Roman family members in rebel armies (not Roman Rebel) and not been able to make them switch sides. Does it just take enormous sums of money or is it even doable?? Anybody have examples of getting some famous names switch to your side??

It takes a ton of money, and the ones you can bribe are usually not great anyway. Keep in mind the AI gets extra money if your playing on H or VH campaign difficulties, and gets unit and building cost reductions with the AI bonuses, so they'll have lots more extra money lying around than you, particularly if you try to keep the treasury under 50000 for corruption purposes.

I don't believe the bribing requirements have changed from vanilla 1.5, but since there are higher upkeep costs, money is a lot harder to come by.

I think the bribery cost depends on unit costs, so bribery is more expensive in XGM.

What about regular armies ? I can't seem to bribe them. But I have enough money (I guess), but they're all declining my perfectly reasonable offers.

If they are declining your offers you dont have enough money. Thats how it works.

If you bribe a ton of armies, sometimes your bribes will start to be refused regardless of how much money you have. This happened to me on a recent Mak campaign, I had bribed an insane amount of little stacks of Romans to keep Gaul alive, but then suddenly they started refusing my offers. Or you might just now have enough money.

I thought they made their offer to you (how much they want) and then you could decide if it is worth it. Can you perhaps give an indication of how much it would cost to bribe stacks (family member, full stack, half stack etc.)?

Somehow the rebels know how much you got in your coffers. They wont make an offer unless they are sure you can pay-up. I normaly never have more than 50000 cause its corrupting my familymembers. If you want to bribe a halfstack with a decent familymember I would think you need more than that.

Does anyone know anything about the cost of towns/cities ?
I actually never bribe my enemies, is it worth it or just a waste of money ?

Depends on the city if you really want to spend that much money on it but that verys to how many soliders are in the city. Some time yes and no yes in the fact like the city of pergamum which has a big income. No in the fact that you most likely will have a hard time keeping public order if it not your culter. If you use the cheats and get then rock on other wise it rather hard to buy them.

Please Note: you can never bribe heirs or faction leaders.....
