    Default Loyalist Revolt

Just had a weird message when playing as the russians. apparently poland got a hold of kiev, but then at the beginning of my turn I got a message saying "loyalist revolt" at the top and it transfered control of the province directly to me. Is this something that only happens to certain settlements once in the game, or are there certain conditions you can affect to cause this to happen?:hmmm:

Well first the town has to be in a revolt
then one of your towns has to be next to it or your provinces surrounding. Its all about religion and culture. But its strange ive never had that happen to me, no matter how many times ive tried, the revolt never lasts that long.

This happens when a settlement rebels. When it does, it joins the faction set as faction_creator in the descr_strat file:

    level large_town
    region Kiev_Province

    year_founded 0
    population 3000
    plan_set default_set
    faction_creator russia
    building
    I think.

I also had that once in my Byzantine campaign when the Hungarians took Thessalonica.

It's a revolt where the people are so kind to give the city back to u.

Dunno when it happens, you will need to have the city under your control for a while before it get's conquered I guess.

He who wishes to command must know what it's like to obey.

If I ever see another loyalist revolt happen to me, their town is going bye-bye.

I've tried it in the past. I often subvert provinces by religion and spies until they revolt. But they always go rebel. Gotta be careful when it does happen though, as its happened to me once. If for example you were allied to poland and kiev revolted and you became ruler of it, it means war automatically.

I'v had this happen in RTW before. The wierd thing is sometimes it would then rebel again... Make up your minds!

...and when it rebels again, the town goes to the rebels.

Thanks guys! yeah it seems really hard to make an enemy town revolt for me though for some reason, no matter how many spies I throw in and buildings I sabotage, they always seem to just lower the tax rate and fix the buildings the next turn and thats enough...if I used religious conversion in addition would that do the trick?

Sometimes there is a benefit when they rebel, because you get the chance to sack the city and take huge proceeds from all the pillaging the entire city. I deliberately let some cities rebel and then they are mine for the picking.

I am a fan of spies, assasins, sabotage and subversive tactics. In RTW i was ofter succesful in making rebels and i am sometimes succesfull in MT2TW.

In RTW there was a hapiness factor called culture difference or something. If that factor was high enough for the city (against its owner) then there was a chance the city would turn to you (or whichever faction´s culture it came from). Once i had Carthage rebel to me after having lost it to the Numidians.

In M2TW i have never seen (so far) a city rebel to change loyalties. All the rebelions i have caused are simply rebels waiting to be captured. So far i have not incited a rebellion in any city i lost (i usually take them back sooner). I will look into it a little more.
