You don't think Al-Jazeera has the best network of reporters and most in depth analysis of any global news network when it comes to the middle east. You loose big time.

Geographical areas are somewhat blurred. Where does the middle east end and Central Asia begin?

Either way, this is not going to go anywhere for America until they leave the country. The Taliban said time and time again that they would not negotiate until the "invaders" leave Afghanistan.

if only the US took the Taliban up on the offer to try Bin Laden in an international court set up in Afghanistan by neutral parties. Maybe lots of people would still be alive today. But luckily we got Bin Laden..oh wait. Luckily we dont have any economic woes to worry about 2 wars....hold on.

I love it when people do that kinda thing:
"Give us everything we want, and then we'll talk about getting what you want."

    "WTF? No."

"Look! Look! he doesn't want negotiations!"

It seems to be rather common in that area of the world, has it ever worked before?

Heinz, we all knew the war would end at some point, all occupations are doomed to that fate.

But, this is quite a hideous way to get OWNED.

After years of hunting for Osama and telling the people of Afghanistan that they'd rescue them from the big bad Taliban, this is the end result?

Ownership to the fullest, I'd say.

Someone please get the Taliban their receipt.

Because Al-Jazeera is run by Arabs so it clearly must be wrong?

Even that might be wishful thinking to. The Taliban have no interest in negotiations, right now they are gaining more with the current status quo. In other words, they will have to be put into a position first where they will have tot talk, meaning more military pressure. That's easier said than done.

Asking Al-Jazeera to write an article regarding the american occupation and expecting it to be fair and balanced is like Asking Fox to write a positive article on Obama's patriotisim... its like asking Hamas to host a passover get together without thinking that they have to serve the blood of a christian boy for dip... Its a stupid idea on your part.

I choose.... Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty moralities, where the great would not be constrained by the small. What's wrong with Al Jazeera? If he cited The Sun, Fox News or something similar I'd be all with you but he cited Al Jazeera, the most reputable news agency in the East.

These people are not advocating letting the Taliban rule Afganistan, they are advocating a policy of trying to integrate the Taliban into the political process. This is the most effective way of bringning conflict to an end. Of course it will include making sacrifices, but the main goals of the war will probably be achieved, especially the economic ones.

hate to be a "i told you so" guy, but i've been saying this for 3 years now. The only way to end the war in Afghanistan is to reconcile with the Taliban. Occupations just dont work in Aghanistan
