your video card was overheating, most likly the memory, get a can of air and blow the video card off. Those are artifacts and are actully quite dangrous if you let them contriune, its a heat based issue.

Actually it was because I was missing some animations, vista didn't copy them well.

What was your card temp, that is tearing, not animations, missing animations should be a crash, not a tear.

It was more anoying than anything as it occupied the mayority of the screen, and moved like hell.

Well i reinstalled the animations folder and it got ok after that.

I've seen it 1000 times on the RTW engine. It is simply the game not being able to get a full animation, or if a model is buggy. You see that a lot if you get a corrupted model, if the model has a bunch of attachments, or if a vertex is detached from the model.
