They are dumb. Iranian economy is in very serious troubles, and they are not gaining any good from this crisis.
Sigh...
Actually Iran pulled all it's assets out of Europe because of fear of their frozen assets, so they may indeed not be as bad off. But still let them laugh, Ahmedinejad is sooo losing the next election.

He was actually nominated for a 'World Stupidity Award'.
For this statement;
I wonder what he was thinking when the entire crowd laughed at him when he uttered those words...

"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

Are they also celebrating the fall in oil prices?

If I recall correctly they don't even make much on oil due to rampant corruption...
"July 14, 2008: I think this is a case where Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound. They're not in danger of going under. They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

Here's a little story: A few weeks ago I bought a book about economics because I wanted to get more insight on the crisis happening around me. The book was entitled "Basic Economics". Though it was describing the basic principles of economics, it sucessfully ruled out and vanquished the Iranian president's claims in the second chapter. Hehe.
Hitler calls Mussolini on the phone:
"Benito aren't you in Athens yet?"
"I can't hear you Adolf."
"I said aren't you in Athens yet?"
"I can't hear you. You must be ringing from a long way off, presumably London."
What were you expecting, Iranian aid?
Hehe. Well the Iranian economy has long been screwed. I guess its hardly surprising theyre enjoying everyone else being screwed around them.
Though since economys typically get a massive boom after any reccession then Iran is hardly going to get the last laugh. especially considering they rely so much on oil which is better they have run out when people can pay a lot for it rather then a little.
"If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance." - George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
Iran has a strong labour force growth but to actually improve their situation they need more economic growth, as the two aren't meeting up as they should. This result skyrockets the unemployment rate in the country (which is now most likely above 11%). And Iran shouldn't be celebrating this event, many of Iran's biggest partners (i.e. Japan, China, Turkey) will get affected which will in turn affect them.

Seeing as their economy is overly sanctioned by the rest of the world, I don't think a financial collapse will affect them too harshly, since they are probably very disconnected from international trade.

This coming from Iran is just priceless.
If they keep digging their own hole like that, they'll reach the Pacific soon.
