    Icon6 Vassals

hey guys.....i am playing a campaign as Russia and I really dont want to kill off all the factions....i just want to build an empire and basically have all other countries as vassals......there is just one problem....i cant seem to get a country to agree to becoming a vassal

    what is more effective:
being a dread faction or a chivalrous one?
being an untrustworthy or reliable faction?
releasing or exterminating their troops after a battle?
any other things or ideas would be much appreciated

Having leaders with high dread means that in battles, enemy army morale is reduced by each point of dread. It can get to the point where a simple charge can rout a unit with ease. Chivalry results in higher population growth while i'm not sure what else dread does. Clearly, being reliable is better for otherwise other nations will refuse any of your proposals. Releasing troops increases the chivalry of your general, while exterminating gets rid of them but gives your general some dread. High command only effects your generals' ability in auto-resolve, high piety increases the happiness of the city under the governors' command and I think authority increases law which results then in higher happiness.

Well their was a post on how to obtain vassal, prettty much you just have to narrow them down to 1 city, try to surrowed it with yours so they cant trade with anyone block their ports and also have an army on their city, open console type toggle_fow and hunt down any troops that arnt in the city once thier gone just have a diplomat asking to become vassal every few turns, just make sure you block thier ports and make thier econmy go back rupt, its pretty easy once you get the hang of it

Second this, it's awesome. But I did it another way. As Fatimids, I sent some assassins into Europe. That was supreme. The funniest thing is when Venetian general with nice authority was leading to Milan, and the war wasn't planned by me. Oh, who cares about some puny war, Venetians troops entering Milan wasn't on my plan. So i just sent one of my assassins to kill that general. I succeeded, Milan wasn't taken.

Having good relations with them and a reliable to very reliable reputation is the most effective way imo. Rebel posted a thread a few days ago about getting them down to one settlement, killing all their stuff, making them go bankrupt and giving them no choice, which works fine if you can be bothered. But if you can get them to accept when they're still powerful is better/easier.

Just have High rep, good relations and don't be at war with their allies, or have them at war with yours. That should usually do it.

I'm actually finding it save a lot of hassle in my Scottish Campaign (SS 4.1). I've used my vassal, England, as a barrier to HRE, Milan, Venice and Denmark (by gifting them settlements as soon as I'd taken them). This allowed to to focus on just one front. I find the game far more enjoyable when you're playing it that way and not having to fight through 5 or 6 sieges every turn. The only problem is, it seems nobody wants to wage war on England and ever since England became my vassal they won't do anything. They just wander around their provinces with full stacks not doing anything. It almost feels like I'm cheating when I can go along picking factions off one by one.

you have to be nice so occupy and use diplomats to pay for higher rep with them. do this once you are satisified with that factions regions and will not continue to take more of them, also make alliances with factions who share the same ones. dread makes you unreliable so becareful.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.
