STOCKHOLM, Sweden - A Swedish court has sentenced Chilean tenor Ernesto "Tito" Beltran to two years and six months in prison for raping an 18-year-old nanny and molesting a 7-year-old girl.

The appeals court in Goteborg on Friday upheld a previous rape conviction, but overturned an acquittal in the molestation case.

The 43-year-old singer has also been ordered to pay damages of $15,600 to the girl and $12,300 to the nanny.

The court has ordered the singer be detained immediately.

Beltran, who lives in Sweden, was accused of raping another Swedish celebrity's nanny during a 1999 concert tour.

In the second case, Beltran was accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl six years ago.

I could hardly think to anything more disgusting that to that *** to get only 2,5 years of prison . . . from which he will make most probably only one year.

Come on . . . for a pedophile serial rapist any punishment other that prison for life or death is a joke and a insult to the victims.

Depends on the gender of the person in question. If it was a desperate woman, I'd say yes. If it was a dude..well, I'm afraid I price my 's virginity EXTREMELY high in that regard. Think trillions. Quite frankly, the price would be impossible to pay. Alas!

Seems rather lenient. How did the judge justify it? Even if one takes into account pleading and time spent in custody it seems to be offensively light sentence.
