Russia and over powered faction?

Russia seems to be over powered, thier troops are way to good but they have econmy and mongols their game over, i realLY wish russia good do better, to me i think thier the hardest faction to play, any one agree or disaggree post some replies about who you think is the best faction

hmm, i beg to differ
the russians are fun to play with but i think that they are FAR from good.
let's start, no good defensive infantry besides spearmen. two of the units you get from upgrading to a fortress then upgrading the barracks HAVE THE EXACT SAME STATS (i'm looking at you dismounted druzhina and dismounted boyar sons) and they're only good heavy infantry are mediocre at best (berdiche's are alright, and they look as cool as hell, but they play poorly.) the only good archers they get are dismounted dvors (all peasant archers and crossbowmen until then.) of course, cavalry selection is fit to rival the turks or the egyptians, with great heavy, light, and horse archer cavalry (hell, i remember playing many-a-battle where i controlled a solely druzhina force and pretended i was rohan from LotR) gunpowder is also excellent, but many either finish or get wiped out way before then. their economy is completely y, as you said, and their back is thretened by the mongols (only later though)
they're good fro cavalry players, and decent for infantry players if you are willing to wait long enough to get berdiches

And whats more ed up is that the stats for the Dismounted Druzhina and Boyar sons are A:10, D:16, but the Dismounted Dvor are A:9,D:16. You may aswell get Dvor cuz they have beasty arrows to put holes in the enemy before doing battle

i did a test, and dismounted dvor beat retinue longbows. when the arrows ran out, both sides collided and the dvor's axes easily beat the english.
surely when dismounted dvor are available, they make up the core of your army, along with some berdiches for assault. hell, even your core cavalry will be dvors, with some druzhina or tsars guards for heavy charging cavalry.
so the moral of the story is: dvors are probably one of the best units in the game

Russia has the extremely powerful Tsar's Guard cavalry. Then they have Dvors which are great Horse Archers. I mean, those nomadic horse archers can pepper you in arrows, but you can do the same thing without being shredded to pieces at the same time.

im currently playing a campaign as russia and they are so fun......i havent gotton tsars gaurd yet.....but i've been using mainly armies composed of Druzina, Kazaks, and Boyar sons.....the 3 of them and sometimes dismounted dvors make a killer attack force.......

Seriously though, I think all Russia needs to do is get a good frontier with Poland, spread across the steppes, get Tblisi, fortify Tblisi. And fortify their eastern border.

After that build ports along the Baltic. (Finland, Lithuania etc..)

Ive been playing as them as well recenly, and im norm a slow player, but im 42 turns in and i have 15 regions!! Might've been more if the cities and castles were closer together

Well russia isn't the hardest nor the easiest it's not the hardest because of their offensive infantry makes expanding and city taking that tiny bit easier, and its not the easist because the steppes are not good for resources but getting into europe helps and most of their starting units are easy to kill i.e lack of protection.

Well the dismounted dvor is just amazing they can defend a city like nothing and the tsar gaurd and dvor calvary are to good. I still have yet to play a really late game with russi just cause mongols always come in right when i dont want them to, and for some reason its not like the tim. One game as turks the tims sat their and moved in slowly so you canstart picking them off before they get moving but the mongols spawn all at once and start attacking

in my russian campaign, the mongols just made antioch their capital and are begging to forge an empire in the middle east.........its gonna be interesting to fight them.....i never have.....always become too powerful and my campaigns get boring (cuz no one can stop my "Legions")......but this is the first time i've seen them actually hold a city......

Same here the Mongols in my campaign just take a city then abandon it it's quite annoying I have all of europe and am waiting a challange fortunatley ive put the end date as 999999999 so I've got time lol.

I dont i hate the mongols every game i have they just rape. if they go to the middle eastt they get a turks and egypt and normally take the whole middle east and start moving to keiv so they pretty much take half the map and the tims come in and dont do anything to mongols. maybe its just me

I'm playing a campaign and am just gonna get my butt kicked by the mongols XD

I'm safe though since I'm going to mass produce spear militia in my cities and just let the mongols take my sucky cities (walls are made of wood) in exchange for one of their armies heh heh heh....

Also I've killed off poland, denmark, hungary and am working towards the HRE and have half of their land. Going to kill sicily, milan and venice once my hoarde reaches there

My Berdiche Axeman are always useless. They are so slow they take horrendous casualties and they don't seem that good, which is weird since I can use the Danish, Scottish, German, and woodsmen decently--it's like the Berdiches are extra slow. I like the Russians but it seems CA doesn't: when you upgrade the armor on Berdiches and Dismouned Boyars nothing changes about them graphically which is a real downer.

I've since some minor changes to the unit roster: I switched the dismounted Druzhina to come from high-level city barracks instead of castles and added a low level sword/shield unit (Bogatyr Footmen) 11,14 stats no armor upgrades instead. Basically norse swordsmen using the Squires of Tripoli model. This balances them out a little better and they usually survive longer becoming a nusiance (though not a whole lot more) to the Poles and Turks. And yeah, Dvors rock, but Retrofit Tsar's Guard have been well-nerfed.
