Default Xbai and For King or country

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=190966.

I've tried a few custom battles and it does seem to improve the ai behaviour:

The general does not charge head on at first chance and attempts to flank or stay behind its army. The muskets and pikes act in cordination. AI cav is more careful of pikemen.

    interesting.

    will test some more.

It sounds positive. I'll get around to testing soon, hopefully by then you lot will have tested it thoroughly with FKoC and can determine if it's a better AI solution than UAI and if it is, I'll contact the BAI team and ask to include it with FKoC.

    Cheers

Testing it myself now. So far what I've notice:

Pikemen are still left behind the musketeers.
Cavalry are still attacking pikes head on.
    Musketeers still don't fire volleys
Musketeers don't bunch up quite so much
Kings lifeguard still attacks the front line

Overall it doesn't seem like it's worth moving to XBAI.

    Cheers

I've been switching between the two and it does seem to me that the xbai is better.
I keep seeing ai cavalry flanking the pikemen but charging muskets and the ai general will last a lot longer.

This could be coincidental. I will try a few more tomorrow.

i have been testing it for awhile now, and it seems to be an improvement. not a great improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. the pikemen seem to stick closer (NOT always) to the musketeers, and despite the cavalry still rushing into stupid situations, they do seem to do it less often. they charge and pull back a lot more, rather than charging and fighting until the bitter end.

in the end i was still kicking ass, but the ratio was slightly more in their favor. only slightly, though. may not be worth integrating.

I also noticed some improvements, but I think they can be worked into GV's AI.

That's because the XBAI does not work properly in the Med2 engine, it is because of the difference in the game engines. Because of this, our current tagging system will not work. It would require a re-write of our AI, but I would recommend trying out Condo's work..it is med 2 compatible. Both of our works share from one another.

I use an AI that reacts well to cavalry/pike confrontations. Sometimes the cavalry charges head-on and get s dumped. Most occasions, though, as I experiment with the Kingsmen using the Swedish model(prec-weapons specs), they charge in from the side or rear and rule as the Roundheads go tete-a-tete with other formations. If they come into the fore, it is because the Parliamentarians are weakened from previous encounters and are overwhelmed by numbers. I modded FKoC to 1/4 scale. So it is actually the closest I have managed to get a mod to scale. I am ever thankful to AD for this mod, for all my complaints, Thank You, AlphaDelta!

ps........... if anyone is interested in my calculations battles are poignant, staggered and 15-45 minutes long as were most of the actual battles with plenty of 'high' action and attrition. Some engagements are upwards of two hours with reactive concertos. Units hide, runaway to return or even ambush where there are forests. Dragoons are the sharpshot. I am ready to get this mod to e'er the next stage. I have an idea for grenadiers. And plenty of time.

My accusation is that PB's modifes are over-zealous as were my own. Submission. Where can we find accurate detail of artillery via internet, without trial. British Militia standard this day says 100-135mps for all under 25lbs. I agree. Above is sliding scale precipitous to 75-90. My mortars max pace are 74-75mps. firelocks, flintlocks, wheelocks and match are 120-325mps. I am not in favor of higher due to personal tests and good old stodgy English buds. PB's shot would be consistent with early Jaeger units and Revolutionary American units using Springfield or Kentucky rifles at rare exception, by period experts. Never forget the mole. BOOM!

ps2 this was the time when a-lot of units would use the firelock at max range(250-300m). They would advance on the enemy for position and max effect. I get this in-game(amazingly!!!!!!!). The closure of line to line was not firmly established until Marlborough.
