    I've paid extra attention now at musketry at different ranges and now I'm sure: In the mod a volley fired at maximum range causes more casualties than a low range volley!

    Enemy pikemen were surrounded by 2 companies of my musketeers. The pikemen were moving towards one of my companies. That company fired at them at extremely low range, only 4 or 5 of the pikemen went down. However, the other company of musketeers fired at nearly maximum range and their volley made 10 or so pikemen fall.

    It wasn't just one volley. the pikemen turned around and tried to attack the other company after some time so I had the opportunity to repeat the action.

    So I've experienced this with several volleys, not just one exception. However, I'm not sure if it was like that in all of my battles, as I haven't compared casualties depending on range as carefully before. But close range fire always seemed to be strikingly ineffective right from the start.

    Have you experienced that as well? If so I really think this should be fixed.

    Go to the Unit Stats Discussion thread and read through, there are some attached files that have updated the combat system, especially missile combat. They will be included in the upcoming patch AFAIK.

    I've played with the attachments installed now but the problem hasn't been solved.

    It was a siege and the firefight took place in narrow streets, so the formations were very deep, meaning only like 10 to 15 men could fire at the same time.
    However, volleys fired from approx. 5 (!) yards distance made 1 to 2 men fall while those fired from maximum range made 5 to 7 men fall.

    Don't you other guys experience this??

    yea..also like the enemy literaly Nevr fires in organized vollies.

    What version of FKOC are you running General A. Skywalker? Do you have point blank's updates?

    I tested this today, and with an average unit I was getting about 12-15 men dieing with a single volley.

    Version 1.15 and yes, I had the updates installed when I experienced this.

    However, I've reinstalled everything and tested it today (1.15, but without any updates). It seems better now. Seems as if close range volleys cause slightly more damage than long range volleys, but the difference isn't really that big, but that's normal, isn't it?
    At least it's not like only 1 man going done at 5 yards distance anymore.

    AD, 12-15 men being killed by close range fire? How many are killed by a maximum range volley? And what is your unit size? That's quite important when talking about casualties. Mine is "huge".

    Now I'm gonna install the updates and see if it'll change to the worse/better then.

    Excellent!

    I've installed the updates and now I've seen a long range volley killing only 2 men and several close range volleys killing much more men. Haven't counted them, but probably more than 10.

    So just for future reference, the problem was in your installation and you fixed it by re-installing?

    Yes, seems so. I've un-installed everything. Every mod, every patch, even Medieval II itself. Then I've re-installed Medieval II and patched it to 1.2. After installing FKoC+patches and updates everything was fine.
