    Default Vanilla!!

I have noticed that vanilla just is not liked anymore. know multiplayers still use it but not many others. Vanilla players need to band together and come up with a fun idea to spark a bit of life into this dull setting.

I like vanilla. There are many mods that keep the vanilla feel, but I like good ole vanilla as well.
And without vanilla there would be no mods.

I play vanilla if I want to play a quick campaign, but really after so many years of Total War, and an increased interest in history and experience in good mods, I just prefer those over vanilla. There are a lot of things that have been done better in mods than in vanilla, though I praise CA to the heavens for making these games, the mods are simply better than vanilla.
Though it seems like they are tackling a lot of the issues with E:TW, so that might be a good vanilla.

It just seems like every mini-game is for a mod, apart from multiplayer you don't see anything vanilla based.

Vanilla is.... Well, its kind of bland, but good for first-timers. Most players by now (the game has been out a number of years) have played the vanilla campaign out. I know I have... So mods are the only thing left to keep the gamplay but change the game. And to be honest, the mods are so much more in-depth, I find vanilla to be way to boring to play now that I've got multiple mods on my computer.

Vanilla is fun after playing mods for a while. It can be a welcome change of pace.

Yeah, after playing mods, you sort of lose the feel for Vanilla, but it's still nice to go back to it once in a while. Back to the 'old times'

Balanced? Hardly... I would say most, if not all, mods are more 'balanced' (ie: AI faction progressions, as well as roster-wise). Vanilla is completely Romano-centric: they have the clearly best roster, best starting position (you have one enemy at the start, depending on the Roman faction), and they always win because of this. Thats the balance in the west, and in the east Egypt wins 90% of the time (because of some stupid chariot autoresolve bonus), while Pontus can defeat them sometimes (also because they have chariots). Then the Romans go east and most of the time beat Egypt... Even Pontus and Egypt's roster is crappy compared to Rome's.
