    Hi all, this is my mod ideas topic. i was trying to find information on mods and noticed there were no modern warfare mods.
    so this is a place where we can all leave our mod ideas and let everyone know your progress and/ or your ideas for mods.

    My Mod Idea

    Name: Modern : Total war

    Era: Now.

    Features: modern day technology with tanks, aircraft, navies and soldiers. International trading, basically real life war in a game.

    Description: Set in the year 2005....... Real life warfare in a game.

    yes...but war isn't really fought with huge armies charging at each other anymore so I really can't see how it would work

    Plus planes and ships are impossible in the RTW engine.

    Yep, there is simply no modern mods because RTW engine doesn't fit with it. All ideas like this died, and even for a quite simple mod like mine - an era not far from BI one - it does require months and months of work for a highly motivated time to complete something.

    If someone starts making this, I can support with information. I just have to say that this is perfect for modding, all else but undead melting down after general have been cut down will work on this engine, maybe even that!

    Impossible, like said earlier, no planes no ships, troops not fighting in blocks.

    I have an idea, unfortunately, not talent for modding. The idea is based upon a few facts, and the concept of an alternate reality. First fact, when Caesar was at war with Cleopatra, his fleet accidently set fire to the Great Library in Alexandria...a particular tragedy because that library and the associated ancient 'university' was the center of the known world's learning, invention, and great thinking. I've even seen on the History Channnel that pieces of ancient drawing may well suggest that there were even theories about producing steam engines and other advanced mechanical devices....and suggestion that man could've been on the moon a thousand years ago if it hadn't burned.
    I also read a book long ago based upon the concept that Rome never feel. Caesar wasn't murdered, the Library never burned, there was no civil war, and the Empire grew ever strong as time passed. The timeline of the book was what we could say was around 1914 or so, but the Romans had nuclear weapons, ruled all of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Britian, and well into the slavic countries. Nobody messed with them...except the rebelious colonies in the new world that were North America. They were also currently at war with the Aztec Empire, which ruled all of South America,the soutwestern US, Mexico, and of course were in Rome's way. The Aztecs still sacrificed humans, and especially captured Roman soldiers and citizens in hidious ways....and this really ****** off the Romans. So they came in their (by the author's description) beautifully painted and ornate 'modern' warships that sounded like 1900's type tech. Seemed there was an odd mix of technology simply because a lot of the things that forced current day tech never happened.

    What I'm thinking is that perhaps several mods, some existant perhaps, could be slightly altered to form a continuous path thru this alternate history, following the Romans to this war into the new world against the Aztecs. A cuurent mod could thus be linked, ending in Caesar's time...where he doesn't die, and creates a powerful line of Caesars who build a global power. There could be wars with India, China, Mongolia, African states, and winning each 'level' of the mod allows progression to the next.

    Cuurent mods, like SPQR 6, call for 155 provinces, or basically, the whole map. The next could cover Africa or further East.....or both. And then the last, war in the semi-barbaric but vicious Aztec world. The possibilites...well, many.
    One could use even historical units for the given time, and simply adapt the Roman war machine to it. Actually, the formations and everybody standing together and getting stabbed or shot at didn't change much until the late 1800's...so the current RTW concept would fit for much of the time period.

    Anyway, that's my idea.

    Since this seems to be the appropriate thread...
    I have a mod idea, but it would be something to make for Medieval 2 Total War, because RTW has so many mods now, and most talented modders are already working on several mods.

    Name: Veria Kuanguerde (Conquering the Civilized World)

    Era: Dark Ages tech-wise, but isn't historical earth

    Features: Basic M2TW features, but perhaps with a few scripts
    (game isnt even out yet so Im not sure)

    Description:
    The Map
    The map of the mod is a small section of Veria, or "Civilized Earth". The map has two main continents, a smaller one, and a bunch of islands, mostly close to the mainlands except for one large island up north. The edges of the continents touch the edges of the map, because they are a small part of much larger continents, but with fewer cities outside the boundaries (why the map is cropped in that way). The terrain is very diverse.
    The Factions
    There are several major factions to play as, with lots of rebels. Since there will be another thread for extended info, I will put down some simple info.
    "Barbarians"
    Zekae
    Osphori
    Apithia
    "Greek"
    Leucians
    Verdainnians
    Aedians
    "Roman"
    Avencians
    "Arabic"
    Yseges
    Ghardaej
    "Japanese"
    Degamuoi

    Other - I don't know which ones to include, and haven't decided which cultural names to use (almost every nation has three names)

    The mod is a "lands to conquer" scenario, where you must take certain regions, destroy certain nations, fight for freedom, or become the most powerful. The game will be balanced even though the Verdainnians will be able to recruit units at 10x the rate of the Degamuoi. In some situations like that, I will implement traits based on my story. The Degamuoi are all elite, but have a small localised army. The Verdians have a huge army, but it is 75% poorly armed units. Also, the Degamuoi cavalry instill fear into the less trained units, due to their blackened armour and demonish face masks, that embody the Verdian idea of "The Devil's Horsemen".
    Some nations are economically weak and territorially small, but they have unit attributes that, if used properly, can win a battle when they are outnumbered exponentially.
