Holy *@!#. You beat the campaign already! You sir are epic. Looks like a mighty empire indeed.
What difficulty level did you play on? Not to insult you, because you did a good job to win that early, but it can't have been on VH/VH. If it was, I'm in awe.
I've been playing a VH/VH as the Welsh. It's been tough going. Circa turn 130, I've eliminated England and am attacking former Scottish lands. I have around 10 regions and becoming economically and militarily very secure. The Norwegians blitzed the Scots early and took all their lands, so I'm fighting the Norwegians in the north.
Caernarfon is a dirt-poor region and Cardiff needs serious infrastucture to be even decent, so the income is really tight. The nearest English settlements--Exeter, Glouster, Lancaster--are also mediocre. I took Glouster early but the English took it back for while.
Perhaps an excursion toward Dublin would payoff early, but the Irish seem really strong. They sneak-attacked Caernarfon on at least 3 different occasions while my army was off attacking the English swine. Beat 'em off every time, but bloody backstabbers.
I had decided not to ally with the Scots or Irish to make the game harder, so that might contribute to a tougher game.
The English get brutal armies, aided by their garrison scripts. They get loads of heavy infantry really fast, as do the Irish. And heavy infantry is Wales' Achilles heel because they have no melee counter. You live and die by the Saethwyr bows, which totally rock, but you have to play defensive, hedge-hog like battles because Wales has no good melee units until late game. I did have 10+ heroic victories early-on courtesy of Prince Dyfdd the Mighty. He was the first general of mine that has gotten the Legendary Commander (+5 command) trait.![]()

@harrynz,
You might want to give the welsh another go when I release patch 3.6. I've made tweaks to the AI and changed England to "not to prefer naval invasions". Which means they now concentrate on defending the welsh border much better! Also new garrison scripts for ireland, wales get (Caernarvon) And did I mention before another for England at York? That Leaves the two settlements inbetween England and Wales undefended by the script. Just watching the battles for these towns is fun I can tell you.
P.S. Great Campaign, I think you might be ready to play the TO nextAnd make sure you use the garrison script, this mod aint the same without it.
Dave
@Bellingham.
My current campaign with the Welsh is on H/VH. I'm currently allied with; Hungry, Papal States ( I currently have 8 seats in College of Cardinals.) Poland, and I left the Irish allied.. Just to see what the hell they'd do if I left them haha and I'll post up a pic to show you. They use to have atleast 6 or 7 full stacked armys and looked pretty threating but they're up to bugger all now.But I would have to agree with you, Wales is a hard campaign at the start but trust me it gets soooo much easier after taking out England & Scotland.
With the battles I tend to be the same as you, I'd at least have four or five units of the mighty Welsh Saethwyr (hope that spelt correctly haha) and later as the game progresses unleash the Morgannwg Spearmen. Overall the Welsh campaign was fun, i'd defenitly do it again in the 3.6 patch.
@dave scarface
Sounds awesome dude! I'll def do the Welsh campaign when 3.6 again on VH/VH! I haven't tried the T.O but will soon. And yep, always do the garrison script I agree with you its not the same. Anyway back to MTW haha.
P.S. Will post up that Irish picture soon,
Peace!

Irish, ' laxing out' haha![]()
Since Wales were added they usually become quite chummy with Ireland. Before Ireland would take over all of the rebel regions in Wales and go on to control half of England with Scotland. Now all they do is reclaim Ireland and sit back. Which is still okay, since it makes an invasion of the island extremely difficult.
Dave
Which is also more historically accurate since the Irish never really launched attacks over the Irish Sea since their days or raiding in the Dark Ages, which was way before our mods time period. Does anyone have any ideas on how to affect their behavior after they reclaim their island in order to better gameplay, or should we leave it as is for more historical accuracy?
Well, in my Welsh campaign, the Irish were quite aggressive but maybe that was an anomaly. They took Castle Town early, then took Lancaster from the Brits a little later, and were relentlessly sieging Caernarfon and sometimes Cardiff.
Wow, thats interesting.. In all my KGC campaigns the Irish have always setteled down after reclaiming Ireland, would be cool to see them expand into Scotland (if not already allied) or even France!
