Default Give the guy a break!

Anybody who has moded anything before will know this is par for the course but it does seem to me that poor AD is getting a tough time for what in everybodies opinion is a great mod.

He's trying to support his mod and the community so try to lay off making him justify every feature of the game. Virtually all of his recent posts are him explaining himself to people.

I know it's tempting to say "Great mod but..." I've done it myself it's actually a compliment because we love it so much we just cant help ourselves wanting to get him to make it even better.

Posting bugs and suggestions is great but try not to waste his time getting him to explain everything to you and why he has done this and that.

I've known great modders to simply walk away from communities after releasing mods because of the stress. Think about what you want to say and why and if he says so and so then don't expect him to prove it to you personally.

Now I could be wrong he might actually like explaining himself to everyone so forgive me, but I know I'd rather him work further on the mod with his spare time than spend it justifying what he's done so far.

    Anyway this is just mho.:hmmm:

I think alot of the questions stem from many of the players being mostly,if not totally, unfamiliar with this conflict and the military actions of this time period, being the 17th century. For that span of 100 yeard many changes occured in the structure of the military composition and how it was utilised in the series of actions that made up this tumultuous time,Perhaps none more so than the cavalry arm had a drastic change as to how they were implemented prior to the introduction of the combined arms synthesis. So I think a lot of it is based on sheer misunderstanding of the content, which it is far better to ask questions than to go blindly forwith these questions I do not think AD has too much of a bother when it comes to answering them, although I could be mistaken.I think he fully realises that this mod is a pinoeer for the era of Pike and Shot and will for this raise many a question from those unfamiliarbut yeah...the "why is it over so quickly questions might get old"

I'm happy to answer questions but I'm sure there will come a time when the same old questions are repeated and the answer will routinely be "Use the search button".

I'm also happy to take requests for changes and additions but I would ask that people are realistic in their expectations.

    Cheers

dont forget that some of us are happy to field historical questions for you ad.this mod really is something new in the total war genre,i dont think anything quite like this has been tried befor.im sure a lot of the questioners are ,in their own way trying to help.fkoc is already something quite fantastic, but it has the potential,i think to be something head and shoulders above any game ive played.for someone who has never stepped onto a 17thc battlefield, you have captured the "feel" of it to a tee.am i right biffa?

I apologise to AD if one of those peeps has been me.
I have just been excited about the things this mod can possibly do if AD wants to continue with it.
I am rather aiming at things at things that AD may want to impliment and exploring them historically.
So for any offences, apologies in advance!

And also, some of these questions are in a way helping AD, by him realising that he's missed a bug or fogotten a unit etc...

Admittedly, few of the posts are useful, because AD has done such a fine job here!

I agree with the above posters.
Claiming that this or that should be taken into the mod is not always necessary when the modder is busy and the mod is yet fresh.

This is an excellent mod. Its excellent because it gives the desired historical feeling and because its simple.
AD's moding method is just what we need. Instead of an unbalanced game, with lot of bugs, some detailed and some rather raw factions and thoiusands of turns before anything happens, we get a civil war with historical personalities.

I tried to play with different mods, but I gave up always, after pressing the turn button too much, or seeing incorrect things in otherwise highly detailed mods..or when I missed the historical feeling because the mod focused only on uber-cool units.

In this mod, when I defeated Essex with my Rupert led cavalry, listening to baroque marches I felt just right. It was just what I expect from a mod.
No thousand factions, no worthless events, no super shiny units, but this.

I verily wish that AD's battalion create a similar mod about another war or a 17th century period.

How coool it would be when one day you could play history through, starting with Roma Surrectum and ending with Empire Total war, fighting the Civil war etc meanwhile!

I do believe that thanks is in order to AD, who compared with the EB team for example, is very transparent in his methods, and doesn't leave you in the dark. I also think this way worked for the mod as it allowed people other than AD who nevertheless had some knowledge in the area to contribute, which in turn speeded up the mod. So thanks

It's a good mod i don't really have any complaints my complaints are with MTW2 . The mod needs some hertfordshire clubmen however

I'm also suprised at how quick this mod was released it's amazing.
