    Default What is the best AI Sub-Mod for SS 6.1?

    Forgive me I am retreading water here. I am planning on starting a new campaign and I'd like the AI to be beefed up as much as possible.

    Which of the sub-mods offers the biggest boost to the campaign map AI?

    Which of the them offers the biggest boost to the battle map?

    Wow...this should open some debate.might as well fire the first shot,I tend to like Lusteds work myself for a well balanced and realistic experience both on and off the battlefield.I like the way the AI not only handles it's units but it politics efficiently and realistically depending on what the situation presents.

    Discussions have been held on improving the CAI but nobody seems to have come up with any real improvements. So far. I'd also say that any general purpose CAI will need tweaking to get the best out of it for stainless steel. One of the biggest problems is that design decisions in mods regarding map, starting faction garrisons, starting faction armies, buildings and roads etc, distance between settlements all play a part in how the CAI works in practice.

    So try Lusted's, and if you can find any tweaks to improve it, feel free to share with the rest of us!

    for Campaign AI use lusteds

    for battle AI i use Xeryxs. in my opinion it is the best BAI present

    So, is Xerixs definitely compatible with SS 6.1, because somebody said that it was not.

    I am currently testing a certain CAI, which I will post for further testing, if it proves to be any good..

    i would suggest giving the new cai from bc a shot, lusteds is good too tho, but grands from bc is less predictable to me, with a great challenge.

    Xeryx's BAI is a work in progress.

    It would need tweaking to make it work properly with SS6.1 as the values in the EDU make a big difference as to how units behave. I understand that the PDER mod works very well with it.

    New Real Combat will also has new BAI files (but this is still in beta with certain issues being worked on as I type this. hopefully it'll be ready soon!)

    I am happy with Xeryx's BAI as well, if only for the fact that it adresses the unit cohesion problem (at least for me). Some may enjoy the chaos of battle/units spreading out all over the place, but it drove me nuts and in fact pushed me back to playing RTW for awhile (with the superior XGM mod). I have not gotten far beyond militia and other basic units in my current campaign, but the spearmen definitely stay together as a unit. Also the ai seems to use its missile units fairly wisely. I can't comment much further than that, but I look forward to seeing if there is any improvement in big sieges.

    Anyway, SS 6.1+RR/RC+XBAI has worked well for me.

    I am very happy with SS 6.1 which uses brand new Lusted's BAI and CAI. The amount of change from normal SS is amazing.

    XBAI is amazing. Xbai cavalry maneuvers their cavalry through stakes and charges my archers. holy cow. And my heavy cav is always blocked by some damn spears when I try to flank.

    Enemy general doesn't charge into spear either...it waits at the back and finds an opportune moment to charge my cavalry to stop a charge or flank me.

    Yeah XBAI is great for battles! maybe ill try lusted CAI but even whatever is built in to 6.1 isnt bad. What CAI does SS6.1 use btw?

    no, Xeryx, the ones using XBAI should thank you(I am one of them, ), cuz you really gave the meaning to battle...
    I am using Lusted's Campaign AI and XBAI mix, and so far very satisfy with it~
