Tie based on a terrible debate I would say the moderator as Tom Brokaw was layin down the law!
"July 14, 2008: I think this is a case where Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound. They're not in danger of going under. They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

    Obama slightly won.

McCain's answers were just too scattered.

A tie, Mccain might have done better by some margin... but the debate was nearly all talking points. No on the spot answers.

Basically a tie, to many things repeated though from other debates/interviews ect! Yet Mccain came off as more knowladgeable and able in foreign policy.

In my opinion McCain seemed like sort of a bigot when talking about foreign policy, definately not convincing..

A bigot, seemed like Mccain was on the attack more than being "a bigot" while Obama had some good points on his foreign policy plans Mccain was more specific and and convincing only by alittle though.

Even being the political junkie that I am I really had trouble even caring but its not like the media can name a winner as there weren't any good sound bytes or clips...

dude...all you care is soundbites? this isn't debate contest, this is presidential election. I think people like you have the pirority totally wrong. If majority of Americans picked leaders like you, it's no wonder that USA is in such a mess today.

The US is a lot better off then 99% of the world right now, even in our troubled state.

This could turn into a food fight quick... but name one country that is doing substantially better in all areas?

Ok maybe I worded it wrong I don't see that as a good thing. But both candidates pretty much said the exact same things the same way with the exception of Obama who has totally gone completely off from where he started and apparently is now pretty centrist I'm glad that we have had that effect on him and he isn't just saying campaign lines that will be ditched faster then the uniformed marines once he gets in.
(And yes that was a shot at Mrs Clinton...)

tie -- this is part of a process. You cannot win on points and no knockout punches or suicide leaps out of the ring. I guess this means both campaigns will be operating on Wednesday. Just need to wait until the real poll in November to find out who won.

Both had an edge to their presentations, but played it safe. Nothing really new and why should there be? The campaigns have laid out careful positions -- no need to change abruptly in the heat of action. Not very presidential. If changes to positions are made -- look to the position papers and ads in the coming days.

McCain won. His positions were clear and grounded on solid ideology and experience. Obama was airy and smug and didn't answer the questions.

Hang on, Obama was smug? After McCain said voters probably didn't know much about Fannie & Freddie? And calling Obama "That one"?

    Good user comment on youdecide2008
McCain gained no ground at all.
For the first 45 minutes neither one answered a question. I felt like Simon from American Idol when a gawd awful singer comes up and he just turns his head. I even caught myself dozing off. All of us knew those answers already and they had nothing to do with with the questions.
It’s like both of them had that magic 8 ball that you shake up and get random pre written answers.
But on Health Care i think Obama gave an answer which stuck on people which redirected unregulated policies of corporations which would stick with some people. So that stood out.
He got him again with that bomb bomb Iran when talking about walking softly and carrying a big stick. That may stick.
I gave the last debate to McCain i give this one to Obama.
I think a lot of us were let down because McCain said that he was going to take the gloves off on Tuesday. HE had gloves on with mittens on top.
But if someone felt that McCain won, it wouldn’t be too far fetched. But it wasn’t enough for him to break Obama’s momentum. It’s like a fight in the ring. If it is too close it’s a tie and person with the Title keeps the belt. And if you barely win usually the judges still give the fight to the other guy because you have to do more than that to beat the current title holder.
Edit: Beren as with oswald try and be unbiased just to mix it up...

    It was a good comment.

But nobody is unbiased. Let's be honest instead. And let's face it, the facts favor McCain.

Here's the deal for tonight. Obama won the beauty contest. McCain won the brains contest.
