In the title, my quible, musketeers.
I was under the impression (possibly mistaken) that by the time of the Civil War, rank rotation was slightly outdated?
In Kingdoms the "Thuner Braves" dont rotate their ranks, a) increasing rate of fire b) In my opinion look cooler, the front rank kneeling while the second fires.
Is there a way to stop my musketeers rotating ranks and fight like the Native units in Kingdoms? (im sure there is a way but cant remember)
Sometimes the units dont seem to rotate, Dragoons for example do and dont as far as I can tell.

    Anyway brilliant mod

    Regards

in the EDU take out the trait Fire_By_Rank if you prefer to have them fire in the way you described.
I am thinking that the reason Fire By Rank is still implemented has a bit to do with the balance issues and the desire for a longer Battle scenario.During the ECW drawn out musketry duels were not the norm, rather a salvo or 2,sometimes more before closing for the general melee.

Taking up to a minute to load makes firing by rank essential, unless you want to be rushed unloaded. These are direct fire weapons, frontage was often limited and the training wasn't always up to par, there's many accounts of blue on blue i.e. 2nd rank takes down the front rank at point blank (there's a nice drawing in one of the Osprey books about it, but I won't link it). As for crowding in, there's also a massive pan flash and these muskets spit.

Also firing by introduction and extroduction were standard drill, both required different ranks to be at different points in the load/fire process, one was used to maintain ranks and advance while presenting a steady fire and the other for withdrawing with the same benefits.

Lol Leonn, I honestly can't remember it was like 10 years ago 1996-1998, I just remember it was a woman (Liz?), I can find out I'm still in touch with Steve/Leni McBane, Julie/Andy Robertson, Tony/June Carter etc and can get hold of some of the others like Pete Petite, Dickie. You'll probably remember Pigpen.
