    Default Unit Documentation

For a while now, I've been using a program I wrote to parse the date files from ExRM and generate faction details, unit summaries per faction, and unit cards. I figured that this is more generally useful, so with a few minor edits to the RTRPE data files to make things parse cleanly, I generated the same for RTRPE:

RTRPE Unit Info is now attached to this post.

This suffers from the same known issues that I mention in the ExRM thread. It isn't perfect, but it is certainly useful. The only obvious problem that I've seen is that none of the ships have images on their unit cards. I may or may not try to fix that at some point.

To use this, just download the package and unzip it - it's just a collection of simple HTML files and JPEG images. You can double click on any of the faction HTML files in the main directory to open a root page and then navigate from there. I have bookmarks to various pages in Firefox on my computer for my convenience.

I'll try to update this as I improve the program I'm using. Currently, there are some issues with the parsing that need to be fixed to make it work more generally for RTW mods. This is what I get for taking shortcuts like using a blank line as a delimiter rather than the start of the next item.

    Very useful, + rep!
Although this may disappoint some people, I am indeed alive, I just went inactive for three years.

Looks like Rapidshare lost the link. I posted a fresh link that works.

Much as I know rs has recently introduced a new rule. All files not connected to an account(free as it may be) will be deleted after 10 downloads or 90 days with no download. The accent obviously is on the 10 downloads. So in case your file is not attached to an account better make one or use another host too.

EDIT: btw, the file is small enough to be attached to the post as an archive from what I see.

Thanks. It was an interesting project and I find it really handy to have the docs around when I'm playing or (even more so) answering peoples' questions in the forums.

Hopefully I'll find some time to work on it some more in the near future. I hope to clean it up enough that it will work on pretty much any mod. When it gets towards that point, I'll release the program in the utilities section.
