    Default Captains

Hey there Do captains always have no command and no other status/traits or is it random? is it possible for a captain to be better than some generals? Does the status you see when you have a chance to adopt a man of the hour reflect what the captains status always were? I'm trawling the data files but its not easy to find this info on how captain attributes are derived or if they just have none of everything which makes them horrible.

    Thanks.

Yes, captains have no command and no traits/ancillaries. No, captains cannot be better than generals. About the man of the hour, I'm not sure, but I think there are a few templates of what a man of the hour gets, and it just rotates, but again, I'm not sure.

Sorry to hog the thread abit here but when you send certain units into battle with lets say Captain Maurello, once you retrained the army and send it back out will it still be Captain Maurello or not?... I would check however my RTW is having some technical issues at the momment.

If you send an army into a city (the entire army), the captain name changes when you take the army back out of the city, or fort, or whatever.

MOTH happens when you are low on family members (as in your city:family member ratio is below a certain point, I think the point is around 3:2), and you win a battle, Heroic victory helps, but isn't necessary. I don't know the exact parameters though, if there are any (such as below a certain percentage of casualties taken, and kills, battle odds, etc.)

I think they do, but only if the battle is very very well won.

I defeated an army of Seleucids with one set of Kataphract and infinite ammo and still didnt get it, That was a very very very well won battle considering it took two hours of running while shooting lol.

and I killed about 400 of them.

If you have lots of provinces but few family members than you will get the "Man of the hour" event sometimes even without any battle, if you have few provinces but a lot of family members than the Man of the hour event will not trigger.

Thats called adoptions, not Man of the Hour. You'll get the man of great potential message.

No, when playing the Rebel Commander mod as the Romano-Brits, I got a MOTH on the 4th turn even though I hadn't fought a battle then.

And then I attacked Ireland with half a stack, lost about half my units, left the battle, and somehow I won. 2 WTF moments in the same turn. Life is good.

if you want man of the hour, round up all of your generals into one stack, expect a single general, then send them into a battle agasint spears, rense and repeat untill you only have on general left, and then get your MOTH

Yes, if you want to be a retard.

Unless of course your generals "controlling" Sicily get overly corrupted (aka stay 5 turns there) and you get mad at them...

My Generals always go bad, Dont ask me why. I always get poor farmers. Also my generals route all the time, even if they only use a few men, I swear i get cowards, the best generals ive ever gotten have been MOTH's
